In short: Not too bad but wont be doing it again In full: My biggest problem with this was the fact that there wer no start pens. I am a 1:40 half runner and it took me 4 mins to get across the start line as it was so congested and couldnt get any nearer the start. Had to dodge people who were doing almost walk pace in the first few miles. I dont mind hills so they were OK. however, the last bit along Kirkstall road I found very boring and sort of lost interest. Agree with other posters - goody bag not great given race entry fee. I also thought there were a lot of stretches where there were no supporters. Crowds along the Headrow and Millenium Square good though. Date of review: May 9, 2010
In short: Another great race at Arkendale In full: What a great race. Lots of lovely mud. Very dfferent from last year's run due to the ud but still really enjoyed it. Somehow managed to knock a minute of last years finish time so very pleased. I'll certainly be back next year.
Only gripe was car park marshall at start - when we got to the junction and were trying to work out where to go they were just standing around chatting! Still, all the other marshalls made up for it as they were excellent. Really enjoyed the cake stall afterwards. Of all the races I have done this one has the best after race refreshments. The mug was also a nice alternative to a T shirt.
In short: A great race - will def be back In full: Great race Pocklington. I missed last years race due to injury so was really looking forward to this years. Very well orgainised and marshalled. Really enjoyed it and also did better than I expected. Did a new PB despite the head/cross winds and the course being a bit more undulating than I expected. I also really liked the mug and Mars at the end. Liked the mug and choc bar - made a great change from a T shirt. I will def be back next year, Date of review: February 24, 2008
In short: Excellent race but the start could have been better In full: Just back form this race with a PB by 10 mins. enjoyed the race and the refreshments afterwards were great. The T shirt is also very nice - especially the colour. Only complaint is the start - the country lane we started in was far too narrow and almost got tripped up a couple of times in the first quarter mile - still it stopped me from speeding off whioh I usually do so not all bad.
Will def do again next year. Enjoyed the race even in the puring rain. a sub 70mins next year would be great Date of review: December 2, 2007
In short: Chaotic start - no km markers - where was the water station In full: The start was chaotic - I was reasonably near the front and still took 3 mins to get to start line only to then have to fight past the slower runners. I agree with other posters - the starting street is too narrow. Also, I saw no km markers other than the 5km which you obviously knew anyway as you turned to head back into town. And no water ststion. that said, a great course for a PB and despite the crowds I managed a PB wioth my first sub 50 min 10km. I qould probably do again but I would have to be convinced the organisation at the start was better. Date of review: November 26, 2006
In short: Loved it In full: I really enjoyed this race - the downhills more than making up for the uphill stretches. Fantastic scenery too. Agree with other posters that the finish could have been better as a bit crowded at the end. A great T shirt too. Date of review: November 5, 2006
