In short: Well organised big city race In full: 1st time running round my home city. Loved the 1st half of the course, found it hard to maintain pace for the last few miles with the twists and turns through the centre, but the support was excellent there. Organisation seemed pretty impeccable to me, water and feed stations very well run.
In short: Lovely people, lovely race In full: Great event, with fun runs for the kids and people not ready for 10k and then a nice mix of runners for the 10k. Great organisation considering the numbers, which were possibly too high for the course. Overtaking for the 2nd and 3rd lap cost time for those of us lucky enough to be nearer the front of the race. Beautiful day out in the park. Date of review: June 16, 2008
In short: Fanastic race, great course, lovely weather In full: A very well-organised and enjoyable day out on a fast, almost flat course on smooth roads. Slightly congested start the only minor issue worth mentioning. But good facilities, well-marshalled, free tea, and good weather all added up to a fine day. Date of review: February 11, 2008
In short: Good race In full: I thought it was a well-organised race with some limitations. Parking, HQ and facilities were fine. Course was flat and traffic free, but very twisty with some muddy corners. Wind was less of a problem than expected. Wet underfoot.
The start wasn't great, but I got near the front without any effort and wasn't impeded at all, into my running within 100 metres.
Marsalls seemed excellent to me, but I wasn't affected by the problems at 9 miles.
And I set a PB. Maybe on a perfect day with dry conditions I'd have got even closer to the hour.
Cake and refreshment stall at the end was great. Date of review: January 20, 2008
In short: Excellent organisation - 1st half much better than 2nd In full: A well-organised event. Good car parking, excellent marshalls, loads of drinks stations, great support, and for the 1st half a really enjoyable course. 2nd half was quite different, with twisty turns, double back sections, loops, dog-legs, bumpy tracks and a gale blowing. I'd come back to run the half, but not the full. Date of review: September 17, 2007
In short: Fast, flat open course - great race In full: A fast, flat course, excellent for setting a PB on. Quality field, so although only a small race, lots of company for setting a decent time. Hospitable, friendly organisation. Date of review: September 10, 2007
In short: Fast, flat open course - great race. In full: A really well organised race. A really good, fast flat course (as long as the wind doesn't blow). But very, very wet yesterday. Not that this had much affect on my enjoyment. Excellent medal and goody bag as well. And results up on the website in 2 hours - excellent! Date of review: July 1, 2007
In short: Well organised race on traffic-free parkland course In full: The organisation was excellent, the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The course was OK but could have been better. For my mind there are just too many tight corners. But still, it's almost pancake flat and fairly fast. I don't think it would take that much effort to improve the course and speed it up by about 10-20 seconds per lap. But this probably only applies if you're near the front of the race. I'd do it again. Date of review: June 11, 2007
