In short: good fast race (HM), gets tougher in the 2nd half. Good support and marshalling.
In full: Finally I got around to doing my local half marathon. Overall a good day. It has a big race feel at the start. The course is good, but the 1st half is faster than the 2nd. I did lose time in the 2nd half, it gets a bit twistier and slower, the last mile is up hill also, this drags a little but that's part of the challenge! It was well marshalled in general, there was also a decent amout of support throughout. Must give a big thanks to the drumming band playing just past John Lewis's, they were great and you hear them for ages, just what you need near the end. OK for a PB, but I reckon the Nottingham might edge it slightly.

In short: tougher than expected!
In full: Overall a decent race, but it would be a bit lonely out there with only the car as company! maybe another water station would have been good. I was a bit shocked at the hilly nature of the race, the website said elevation gain of 119m, my Garmin said 242m, a big difference, with this knowledge I would have paced better! so pleased to have finished albeit slower than expected but still satisfied due to tough nature of course.

In short: Tough but rewarding.
In full: My second Hermitage 10k and more enjoyable than last time. It is not a PB course; it’s probably a tough as you get, steep hills for the first 4.5k and a few more to come in the next 5.5k. Mainly downhill from 8k onwards although the finish straight seemed to go on forever and I’m sure it was slightly uphill! Well organised and very friendly. Great scenery also, something to take your mind off the pain. I would recommend it to all types of runners but if you are new to running it is a real baptism of fire!

In short: tough but rewarding race
In full: Nice scenery, well organised and pretty hard. Not one for a PB, but once you've done you first climb you get a lovely downhill and the it all starts again! an even worse climb to come, maybe no steeper, but I was certainly more tired! A nice 1 mile downhill finish and a welcome drink and banana. A good race for experienced runner as well as the more leisurely runner.

In short: good atmosphere for a 10K
In full: Worth the effort and well organised. It is good to have such a large 10K field, it has a marathon / half marathon feel. I think it is a good race for new runners. The course seemed fairly fast apart from the slight congestion at the start and the hairpin bends. The section over the railway at 6 to 7 k was horrible, as was passing the footy stadium with 3k to go, but the mental torture is all part of the fun! Got a PB, my first sub 40min, so must be a good course, but apart from the city centre bit it is a bit bleak, sorry Derby! Nice t-shirt, run out of small when my other half finished, this is a shame (and she was nowhere near last). Well organised, will do again.

In short: Hilly but worth the effort
In full: A very enjoyable race, not really good for a PB due to the undulating nature of the course. I think this is a tough race for newcomers but certainly worth the effort with decent support near the start finish areas. A very attractive course if you can try and enjoy the scenery! Will be back next year.

In short: Very good race with PB potential.
In full: OK so it is a bit windy, but it could have been worse today. the sun shone for most of it. There is a good feeling at this race, a real mixture of first timers, fun runners and club runners. A good course, 2 laps and fairly fast apart from when there is a headwind. The last couple of km each lap were tough in the wind but the cheer leaders helped ease that pain. Got a PB and Will be back.
