In short: Muddy but fun! In full: Wow, the mud was every bit as bad as I had been told. Two miles of sliding around and just trying to keep moving in the thick sticky mud - I just about kept my trainers on but fell over several times. The run back in along the sea wall was tough with heavy soaked trainers and mud everywhere, but a great event with a nice friendly atmostphere and good marshals.
In short: Hot! In full: Good flat race, plenty of water stops, well organised and well marshalled. Start and end better than last year with the finish along the costal path. Date of review: June 14, 2009
In short: Great race but horrible weather! In full: A nice friendly well organised event, I turned up on my own but made some friends on the way round. Great marshals and fab water stations, there was even cake and biscuits at 9 miles! I was absolutely soaked at the end, but enjoyed myself despite the atrocious conditions and was pleased with my time. Nice course, and definitely a better choice than Run to the Beat! In short: Really enjoyable, flat course with good support In full: Great experience for my first half, nice and flat and I didn't mind the loop on the seafront as I knew where the upcoming mile markers were 2nd time round. Twisty last mile v hard work as you couldn't see 13M coming up, but support and marshals were great. Plenty of water stations (but why a big bottle of water at mile 11? the small bottles were much easier to handle and less waste) and the sponges were fab in the heat. I'll be back next year!
