In short: bad organisation but has potential
In full: The idea of a relatively flat marathon with the stadium as a base seemed great.

As a runner, with the weather predictions getting worse I adjusted my clothes and time predictions accordingly, unfortunately the organisers had not done the same.

One doorway in and out of the stadium for all runners and spectators meant there was a queue to even get in and once in there was no room to move. The start was a bit uneventful, a horn went off and that was it, no warning or countdown. The course it self was well manned at all water stations, all though they should have left the lids on the water bottles at all stations like they said they would in the race info. The spectators were out in force which was fantastic given the conditions. The finish (after 26.5 miles) was not marked in the stadium, no big FINISH sign, and after passing the clock there was a long walk out to collect finishers bag and queue for your kit bag. Runners were queuing for 20 minutes plus to collect their bags, some runners even climbed into the baggage lorries to find their own bags. Given the temperature and rain, all runners were suffering hugely because of the queuing, even a foil wrap/bin bag would have made a huge difference.

If the weather had been good the event could have been fantastic, but the weather was not and we all knew it would not be. Please have a wet weather plan for next year and measure 26.2.

In short: Great route for pb's. Not great organisation at start.
In full: The route was great, parking was great, not enough toilets at start. The lack of a goody bag was a shame. The water stations were well placed and I always take my own energy drink for a race this long.

In short: Great race, got a pb so very pleased
In full: Mildly undulating is a fair description, one hill at the end, very small race so potential for good place. Spectators enjoyed great cakes and good atmosphere at race HQ. May need better planning and signs around start and finish as some confusion about where to go. Would definitely enter again though.

In short: Great route with lots of undulations!
In full: It is a good course but the same as the 10k and half marathon courses. Lots or marshals on most of the route with good vocal support.

In short: Really enjoyable race, the hill wasn't that bad!
In full: This was my first time and I came away having really enjoyed it. The 3 mile hill really was not that bad, not too steep and a few flat bits on the way up. It seemed to be only 7.86 miles or there abouts, but never mind! Would definitely do this race again.
