In short: Such fun In full: This was my second year of running and this year was even better than last. The addition of Gels was a much welcome inclusion and these really helped push me round, especially at the 17 mile mark.
The move of the start was a great idea as the mass of runners started to thin out at the 3 mile point moving onto the road and there was no squash to move into single file as was experienced last year.
I've never been a hill runner and know to improve my time for next year this is something i'll have to work on! 90 minutes of football on the Saturday was not the best preperation and I only missed my target time by a couple of minutes.
Great support even with the weather and it was good to see people still hanging around after they'd finished. Date of review: March 14, 2011

In short: Pompey is my second home! In full: After spending 3 years at uni in Portsmouth I finally got round to entering the South run last year 5 years after leaving! After a 1hr 33min run last year my aim was to remember the course and beat that, 2 days in bed with the flu and my chances of even making the start line looked slim. With the aim of just making it round my hopes of a good time weren't high. After latching onto the 1hr 45min pace setter I was surprised when not only did she overtake the 1hr 40m pace setter but then 7 miles in strolled past the 1hr 35m one to drag me home in 1hr 30m absolutely overjoyed. After running the Great North run as well this year my preference out of the 2 is definately Portsmouth, but I could be biased!
The free Bupa sports massage at the end was something I missed last time and was a great find. Date of review: October 26, 2009

In short: Great day, great fun and surprisingly a great time! In full: Hilly, boggy in places, no idea how far i'd run but a brilliant morning out. My first half marathon and only my second run of the year. 2hr 15mins and absolutely delighted. Definately be back next year to try and crack 2 hrs! Date of review: June 1, 2008
