In short: Great fun in lousy conditions. In full: Why are the conditions always lousy for this event? Quagmire mush for half the course (mixed with regular unavoidable puddles) followed by a lovelt solid ice section. Still well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. Will be back next year. In short: NICE EVENT, GREAT MARSHALLS In full: My first marathon so nothing to compare it too but nice mildly undulating course with a 13 mile loop through the countryside. Well marshalled with great encouragement on the course. I'll be back next year. Date of review: October 20, 2008

In short: Great event -Well done Alnwick harriers In full: Fabulous scenery from start to finish and a challenging course to keep you focused. Excellent organisation. Best race I've taken part in and I'll definitely make the 350 mile round trip again next year. One very small point, can we have a direction sign for the baggage bus at the end next year please? In short: Really well organised ... not sure about it being 'undulating' In full: A really well organised and marshalled event specially considering the rather wet conditions. First few miles lulls you into a false sense of security (due to down hill sections then)the route becomes more aggressively uphill as it goes on (and the tired your legs get). To get the best out of this one make sure you do some hill training! Date of review: July 7, 2008

In short: Hard, and then some.... In full: Fabulous organisation, plenty of well manned drink stations and a great day out. If you don't 'do' any hill training(and I do)give this a miss. Otherwise a brilliant experience. You must do it once, but not sure if I can force myself to suffer the pain again!! Date of review: May 19, 2008

In short: Great organisation, Highly recommended. In full: Well organised! Sufficient toilets, plenty of drink stops, friendly stewards, a challenging but very fair course, personal best = one very happy runner. Well done Ackworth RR if only all runs were so pleasurable! In short: A day of two halfs.. In full: Firstly, a big thanks to Barnsley AC for organising the event. Good to have an race like this in a very sparse winter event calendar but a few 'tweeks' next year would majorly improve things.
The directions sent out with the race number caused some issues as when we reached the suggested 'turn off' from the M1 the sign post we were supposed to look out for did not exist. We then did a 15 mile detour before spotting a sign for Royston.
The registration area was well organised and very efficient so top marks for that and there seemed to be a reasonable amount of toilet facilities.
Unfortunately, the start was a complete farce with no visible sign of where the start line was and from where I was standing no signal that we had even started!
Good stewarding on the course and a an 'undulating' route although the seemingly never- ending up hill section between mile 4 and 5 was cruel.
End of the race again confusing with what seemed like two timing mats and very little warning of how close you were to the finish when you came around the last corner.
Think I did a personal best by over two minutes but not sure as don't know exactly where the start was!
Will be back next year, hopefully the few small issues will have been sorted out by then. Date of review: November 19, 2007

In short: Well organised event. If only they could fix the weather In full: Firstly hats off to Worksop Harriers and their organisation team they got it absolutely spot on. Web-site gave clear info, plenty of toilets at the start and well organised at the finish. Many other larger events should take note!
Course highly 'undulating' and the thirty minute rain-storm didn't help, but still recorded a PB so happy enough.
Well done Worksop.

In short: A Good day out...... best to treat it as such. In full: Firstly generally really well organised particularly at the finish but could be better. Plenty of Toilets at the finish (when nobody can pee because they are dehydrated) but only around 15-20 at the start which led to a 50+ minute queue, hence I expect some people being 'late' for their start area. We only just made it (thanks to the loo's)and were near the start by 9.40!
Pointless really moaning about people putting ridiculously optimistic finishing times (as they are unlikely to be reading this site) but passed several people walking just over the START line with orange colour vests on (some lying about projected time I feel!)
I was running with a family member to help get them around so quoted an accurate finish time of 2:20 for us (hardly elite pace)but still found the Tyne Bridge was a mass of walkers travelling three abreast tutting when they were being 'moved' out of the way.
Moans over, this is a mass participation event and works well as such. Glad I did it once as it does have a great atmosphere.
If you want a yard of space to run in, don't like swerving to avoid people walking along having a chat choose another event. That's my preference so first and only time for me. Date of review: October 1, 2007
