In short: Superb event In full: 2nd time I have done this event and it has only improved since the first time I ran in 2007. In short, a fab, scenic course, challenging but not killer hills, fantastic support from very cheerful marshalls, a lovely feast in the goody bag at the end, and jelly babies, chocolate, gels and bottled water at plenty of stops. In short: Best fun I have had for a long time In full: This is just a wonderful event which is really great fun. The marshalls all round the course were just superb, incredibly supportive, and some got as mucky as the runners. It really was great fun. I am so glad I did it.
I am not totally sure what more to say, but the only reason this race didn't get 100% is because there is not a PB potential. Otherwise it would get the 100% rating off me for sure. Date of review: November 11, 2007

In short: This race was a highlight of my life. In full: The organisation is superb, the atmosphere is extraordinary and when prepared for properly, this has got to be just about one of the best races in the world.
Cant control the weather, but wonderful event, just PB's are not guarenteed due to the heavy traffic. I did ask if I could change my pen based on my training times and they let me with no bother. But even so, it is slow going at the start which can scupper plans. Not to worry, it is a magnificent event and I fully understand why people go back year after year after year.
And the thing that impressed me most - at the finish, they even opened my bottle of water for me. Date of review: April 27, 2007

In short: Wonderful course and fab organisation. Great 26.2 training run for sure In full: The course is fantastic. Maybe the last 2 miles are a bit tough on the old legs but anyone used to undulating routes should be fine with this course. Wonderful atmosphere and the marshalls were great - gave great support all the way round. The whole country was gripped with horrid wintry weather today. That added interest, character building? I would rate this whole experience today as one of my top 10 races to date. I want to enjoy my marathon training but if I dont do the marathon, the fact that I did this run will soften the blow enormously. It has made all the training so far worth the effort. Anything else to follow will be a bonus as far as I am concerned. Date of review: March 18, 2007

In short: Really nice race as a pre FLM training run. Course was a bit challenging in places. In full: Overall I really enjoyed this run.
The course is in the country apart from a 2 mile out and 2 mile back which is in the town. There are some long hills which meant lots of down but also lots of ups too. I chose to walk 2 of the most demanding ones purely as I didn't want to stress the legs too much before London.
The organisation was really good. And the support was excellent too. Really made the day. It was good to see some of the villagers come out to support too.
I hear we were lucky with the weather. I have heard this has been dreadful in previousl years weatherwise. But if you are training for a bigger event, why run alone when you can have great company in a beautiful part of the country. And if you are training you are out what ever the weather anyway I guess.
May well do this again, as a spring challenge to keep motivation up during the winter. Date of review: March 11, 2007

In short: I thought last year was good, this year 'it just got better' In full: Loved the new course. Most of the hills done by 5 miles, except for 1 at 8 miles and then end. The park was challenging for sure, but it was prettier than a housing estate I guess. Lovely course, lots of green. Brilliant support from the locals and the marshalls. And the 12 mile hill, much appreciated! Great t shirt, medal and goody bag. The whole race is thought out with the competitors uppermost in the organisers minds. Thanks everyone. And yes, it is made for beginners, which I really think is important. Date of review: October 22, 2006

In short: Great course, great crowd, very friendly supportive marshalls, great competitiors In full: I was a bit aprehensive about this race, because I felt pre-race information was a bit vague, with an apparent lack of facilities. Only real prob was no bag storage, but parking near start (if arriving early enough) compensated. Toilets near start (always important for us girls!). Great marshalling, only one taxing but short hill near the start. Otherwise, one of the flatest runs in the area I know of, hence Pb's in abundance. Was not at all intimidating or clubby for newcomers. Wonderful support during the second half of the course through a very attractive part of the town. And the views from the top of the golf course made the climb worth while. One downer - only one water station that I noticed, (were there more?) I had my own water, but could be a problem for some if it had been any hotter. Date of review: April 10, 2006
