In short: Glorious sun run on the sea front In full: Having particpated in this race last year when the weather was wet and windy, this years race in the sun was bliss. The event organisation was excellent with cheerful organisers and friendly marshalls. The course is predominantly flat and therefore fast with lots of encouragement from pedestrians and dog walkers (just mind the extendable dog leads). I really enjoyed this race and will hopefully be back again next year. Date of review: April 7, 2013

In short: Excellent organsation and ideal running route In full: The pre event information,on the day organisation and event management were excellent. Number pick up, baggage drop off, car park signage were all well organied, and although a slightly narrow start with a sharp turn, there was enough space for everyone to spread out. The marshalls were excellent, very encouraging, despite the cold chill and the odd snow flurry. Great 20 mile course, no repeat loops and great for setting PB's. other runners were really friendly.
The goody bag and t-shirt were a nice gesture. Date of review: March 4, 2013

In short: Excellent organsation and ideal running conditions In full: A very enjoyable event, excellently organised and an attractive course. I'd previously run it twice in the autumn (when they still did an autumn version) and got very cold and wet both times. It was a treat to run in dry conditions which were ideal for the distance. Starting on the airfield means there is plenty of space though by the second lap it felt as though we were never going to escape into the countryside. Thanks to all the wonderful and encouraging marshals for turning out on a cold day. As mentioned already, it was very nice to get a handshake from the race director as we crossed the line.

In short: Great race, efficiently organised In full: Excellent site management with good signposting & indoor facilities. Plenty of local car parking.
Marshals were incredibly supportive. Water stations ideally spaced apart.
Chip management at start & finish was well organised.
Excellent goody bag, well thought out including a bottle of Adnams beer.
A generous range of prize categories with trophies to third place in each category.
Wish the organisers could manage the weather as well as they manage the event!
Well done BBDRC

In short: Fantastic fun despite the weather In full: Anoher well organised event by Great Yarmouth Road Runners. There was great support and encouragement by the many volunteers despite the drizzle and the wind. Thanks to all those involved in this one off event, well worth braving the weather for.

In short: So near and yet so far.... In full: It’s the first time I have participated in the event, and it was incredibly well organised. I have never seen a course map in such great detail, which really helped those of us who were not familiar with the area (whoever said Kent was flat?!?). I don't think it could be described as 'mildly undulating', more likely hilly. Having said that I was only 50 seconds outside my marathon PB which was set on the very flat Amsterdam course. The marshals were amazing, encouraging and smiling! Bottled water was ideal for those of us who didn't want to carry water around 26 miles.
The commemorative medal at the end was impressive as the 1/2 and full marathon have different designs. Finally, the contents of the finishing bag were well thought out. Like others, my only 'comment' would be the queues for the toilets. Date of review: September 3, 2012

In short: Love it In full: Despite the weather, which was changeable to say the least, it was great fun. Last years race was a dust bath, this years a mud bath in places, still it made it interesting.
Clockwork organisation, chip timing, race started on time, route was undulating, with hills at the end to challenge tired legs, but a great and fun race.
Friendly and encouraging marshals, lots of water stations and jelly babies all the way around, so you were never far from a smile and enouragement.
Better still I finished with a silver medal, so incredibly pleased. Date of review: July 1, 2012

In short: Wonderfully organised and runs like clockwork In full: This is the third year I have run this event, and each time it has been well organised. the route is clealry marked with km markers along the way. The best touch is a handshake at the end from the Race Director. In previous years the 'goody' bag has been a 'spike' bag, a sandwich cool bag, both of whcih were excellent quality and still being used. This years medal was a surprise, but loved the Diamond Jubilee ribbon! Well done to all involved. Date of review: May 15, 2012

In short: Fun and runner friendly course In full: It was an incredibly well organised race. Yes there was a slight mix up about the race time, with all information indicating a 10am start and then the final details from the event organiser indicating 10.30am, so a 10.15am start was a good compromise as everyone should have arrived by that point anyway. It was a runner friendly course, traffic free, level running surface, one slight incline, great support from passing walkers and the odd dog. The wind was a bit frisky, but only to be expected from a coastal course. The marshals were exceptionally friendly, and despite the low turnout were positive and encouraging. I'll be back next year as the goodies and the engraved medal were well worth the entry fee. Date of review: April 9, 2012
