In short: Good race - did what it said it would do
In full: I enjoyed this one - watching the gliders, but trying to keep an eye on footing is good fun.
The course was good, the 3 laps were not too repetitive. It was hard running into the wind for one leg, but nice when the wind was at your back on the other leg. Was touching running past the blast bays, seeing what was left of the airfield.

Had to watch footing in a couple of places, but the medal and reusable water bottle were both nice touches. Effective marshalls, thanks.

Only one thing, please more toilets. 2 for a maximum field of 250 is pushing it!

In diary for next year.

In short: Sort out the niggly problems....
In full: Route was practical but boring.
Tshirt was given out from last year - if you managed to get one.
Medal was non specific to the event - again if you managed to get one.
Marshall did not correct when wrong course taken.
Not even listed as a finisher.

Poor effort - and considering the organiser has been organising events for over 25 years, no problems can even be attributed to teething problems.
I will not run in anything organised by the individual and or company again.

In short: Good but point needed tweaking
In full: This is a nice race, with a good tough course and good organisation. The support is good and the finish is in a nice setting, supported by a nice cool down walk back to the start.
However a couple of points let it down.
Last year, there were not enough loos, leading to delays and the water ran out before some runners had got to it, points which were addressed very quickly by the organisers on the website. As I was affected by both of these, I thought it would be fair to give them another shot.
I don't do races for the momentos or medals, but to get a mug with last year on it is a let down.

In short: Great 10K event
In full: Was well worth turning up for this one. The early start meant more could get done later in the day. Scenery was lovely, weather an added bonus. Will definitley do again.

In short: Good but couple of niggly problems
In full: This was a good course for a challenging, yet fun, race. The views in a couple of places were good and the hills were excellent downhill and challenging up. The race was let down in a couple of ways, the small number of portaloos at the start caused problems, as did not having enough water, meaning that some runners did not get any water until the finish. To their credit, the organisers immediatley placed an apology for both points on its website and considering this was the 50th renewal of the event, I'm assuming that there are not usually problems like this.

In short: Abominable Mud Monster
In full: Great race. Was off quickly with no long delays at the start. Soon found myself in the bottom 10 - 15 and there I stayed the way round. Loved the tank section and once back in the fields forgot about just how much it was hurting. X Zone was brilliant. I became a "tree hugger" - very useful for dragging yourself out of the mud. Thanks to the girls and guy who helped me round. Very friendly.

In short: Hard but great
In full: My 6th GNR (at the age of 23) and at last the start seems to be well organised.
I am not a fast runner and put an honest estimated time of 3hrs. Was near to the back, but once the gun went, it seemed to be flowing quite smoothly. None of this stop start of previous year's.
Did notice on the big screens that some coloured numbers had got into the "faster" pens. What's the point in this system if marshalls don't stick to it all the time??
One point, please respect the faster runners and let them have their day. Us slowies can still have a wicked day out without impeeding theirs. And apart from the pen gripe, the marshalls were fine.
Wicked crowds!!
