In short: Excellent race, excellent atmosphere, superbly organised In full: Very well organised event with a fantastic atmosphere.
Nice scenic course that was gently undulating apart from the last hill back into the City centre at the end but the crowd was fantastic.
There were plenty of loos available at the start so the queues never got too bad, which is very rare at races.
After finishing the organisation was second to none. The medal & t-shirt were very good.
Being over critical, there were only a few minor negative points, the goody bag could have been a bit better. From getting into my car it took well over 40 minutes to get off the racecourse. Finally, the gel station was originally supposed to be at around the half way stage but it was actually at about 11 miles which is far too late. These minor points however did not spoil what was an overall excellent event. Date of review: May 13, 2013

In short: Very well organised race, marshall & crowd support very welcome In full: This was my first time at Chester. Very well organised. Has got definite PB potential but not for me this year as coming back from injury and seriously under trained. Lovely scenic views and the field soon thinned out so you could go at your own pace. The marshalls and crowd support were great particularly when I was struggling late on. Excellent technical shirt. Will be back next year to try to have a good go at a PB. 2012 British 10k London Run

In short: Great atmosphere, poor organisation In full: Just trying to get over an injury so this was never going to be a PB race for me. Unless the start is organised by abilty it is only going to be a fun run unless you start towards the front. I had to dodge around 4 ladies that were walking side by side only about 300 mtrs from the start. The baggage pens were chaos & needed to be covered, t-shirts were being given out without vouchers at the pens. The £50 entry fee can't be justified for the bad way it was organised so the day was slightly soured.
All of the above aside, the atmosphere was great, the crowds were fantastic, and the course is nice and flat and goes past some very iconic landmarks. Date of review: July 9, 2012

In short: Fantastic atmosphere & organisation, but frustrating race In full: This was my 2nd London Marathon (1st time I've managed to get in since 2007). Training had gone well & I was hoping for a PB but after only 4 miles I realised this was going to be impossible. It was far too crowded & too much of the course wasn't wide enough & just when I thought I was getting somewhere got held up again. So it was very frustrating & I got nowhere near my target (missed out by 20mins & missed out on a PB by 14 mins). Apart from that which spoiled the day for me the crowds were fantastic & the organisation was fabulous, & you cannot beat that final straight running down The Mall. Date of review: April 25, 2012

In short: Excellent race/organisation/support/banter/weather/goody bag In full: What a fantastic day. Superbly organised. Everyone was so friendly & supportive. There was always someone to chat to which helped the laps pass by. It wasn't as much of a mental challenge as I thought it would be. i can't think of one negative at all. I hope it is on again next year. Date of review: November 7, 2011

In short: Excellent again. My favourite race of the year. In full: My 4th GNR & yet again a great atmosphere & organisation. Fantastic to see the Red Arrows at the start. Struggled again miles 9 - 12 but managed my quickest GNR so far although not a PB. Only minor moan was the goody bag & quality of the t-shirt were not as good as normal. In short: Great atmosphere despite the non stop rain In full: Somehow managed to knock 4 mins off my PB so really enjoyed the event. The rain ensured that there weren't as many spectators this year but their enthusiasm was as great as ever. Well organaised & enjoyable, will be back next year for my fourth time. In short: A lot cooler than last year so managed to smash my PB by 17 mins In full: It seemed a bit better organised than last year but still a few shortfalls, that aside everything seemed to fall into place & I managed to knock 17 minutes off my PB so very pleased. Date of review: May 27, 2011
