In short: Improvements needed.
In full: A few constructive comments if I may.
Firstly, why was the start delayed ??
Was standing towards the front of the start
area and people were ambling about-on mobiles
etc etc at 9.40-hello, race starts 9.30 so
this was not good.
The route was good and drinks although water
only were frequent and well supplied.
I thought the last bit from the high street to
the finish line was very poor and slightly
dangerous, cars driving towards tired runners
in a very narrow lane is never a good idea.
The t shirt and medal were both good and there
were plenty of drinks too so well done.
My final point is the showers/changing-they were
a bit limited and not really suitable at all for
the ladies were they ? Also, perhaps next time
someone could sweep them out before race day-my
feet were filthy from caked mud when I came out
the shower, not ideal.
Overall, a decent event that could be improved.

In short: Top quality event
In full: Not done Halstead for 4 years, and I will not
be waiting 4 years to return.
Possibly the best marshalling I have seen and
that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Every aspect of this race was organised so well
cannot suggest anything to improve it.
The bag storage was fantastic, well done there
and I was in a warm shower within minutes of
finishing the race.
I massively congratulate all those involved in
making such a great day out-fantastic.
To end on a slight negative, poor that some
runners were chatting etc during the minutes
silence for Boston-clearly they did not read
the instructions OR worse, ignored them.

In short: thank God it stayed dry !
In full: A decent event which was well organised but
the bag drop was not great, it should have
been marshalled I think. My bag was dirty/muddy
when I collected it-caused by other runners
I presume who had not removed their muddy boots.
Never had rum or brandy before during a race so
that was different. I thought the first drinks
stop was too far from the start/finish area
and was poorly organised on the outward loop.
Personally, I thought the field was too big for
the nature of the route but there you go.
The conditions were terrible underfoot and was
sorry to see several runners go over-not nice.
To me, this race served a purpose but I much
prefer road marathons and how people say this
is a PB course I just dont get.
Well done to all involved, and hopefully a
nice sum was raised for a worthy cause.
PS the hot shower was brilliant !!

In short: Lonely 2nd lap
In full: My home town marathon and whilst the scenery
and the route aint exactly top notch, this
event is ok in my view.
On the second lap it can get lonely and at
times isolated but that is expected.
For the entry fee, the rewards are good and
the free hot shower makes such a difference-
you dont get that at London do ya ?
A few extra marshalls would be good and to be
honest, the medal was c**p ! It aint even got
the date/year on it,poor quality.
Anyway, thanks to all involved today-well done.

In short: Too many vehicles en route.
In full: Not an overly cheap entry fee but a lovely
stadium finish and excellent post race
facilities for the runners.
In places, the scenery and views were just
fantastic-with enthusiastic crowd support too.
My only gripe really was thought a lot of the
run was in the close company of traffic (in
particular the last few miles) and although
the drivers were considerate it is not ideal.
Well done to everyone involved but adding up
the entry fee, cost of flights and the hotel bill it was not a cheap weekend away.

In short: another great weekend in Isle of Man
In full: another great event held by IOMVAC.
a scenic but in places tough race but the
facilities and rewards for the runners are
top class-particularly for such a modest
entry fee. my 6th visit here for this
marathon and for sure will be here next year.
cannot praise this event enough and I hope it
continues to get support from all runners.
a super buffet too, this is one of my annual
favourites-well done everyone.

In short: mud glorious mud !!
In full: to everyone involved-organisers,runners,
marshalls,supporters etc etc thanks again
for a great running event.
really muddy today and despite that I ran
my quickest time here so did ok.
the showers were a little difficult to find
but were cracking-makes such a difference.
To close on a negative though-why do runners
go in the pubs/bars after with their kit on
and in todays case with legs and shoes caked
in dirt and mud ??
Showers were provided so no excuse really and
if you cant be bothered to shower at least
put a change of clothes on to cover up.
I heard several (justified) comments from
non-running drinkers/diners about this.
Come on guys/girls you dont need to enter the
pub in this way for others to know you did
the run-wear your medal, with pride.
Hope this can be improved next year. CHEERS

In short: great race
In full: first hill is very tough and was gasping a bit
at the top but you can run up it, honest !
entered on the day and I thought the whole
set up and organisation was excellent.
bottled water en route and a very nice long
sleeved top as a momento.
will defo be back again and hopefully the
weather will be kinder next year.
thanks to ALL involved, including all the
marshalls and the drinks stops helpers.
great work, a great race to run in. cheers

In short: fantastic-excellent job
In full: fantastic pre-race information and a great
venue for a marathon.
dont worry about the laps aspect, its great
fun seeing other runners on their laps and
waving at each other.
its not spirit level flat and the incline
did seem to get steeper on each lap, I wonder
why !
great venue for spectators and runners alike
with showers and lockers within 100 yards of
the finish line and a good cafe to mingle in
later.
bearing in mind this was the first time the
race had been held it was a brilliant effort
by everyone involved, particularly the lad
with the mike making announcements to the
runners as we passed.
highly recommended race and well worth the 350
mile round trip from the midlands.
oh did I mention it-what a medal !!
well done one and all, brilliant.
