In short: Superb organisation which includes a series of organised recces which were great In full: A must for all those who enjoy off road marathons. Quite tough but no pain no gain - take advantage of the organised recces in the months leading up to the day of the event, the organisers and marshalls are friendly and helpful and want everyone to have a great race. Fab technical top I am proud to wear! Thank you Date of review: September 11, 2011

In short: Superb organisation and super-friendly marshalls In full: I am overwhelmed by the quality of the marshalls on this one. Without exception they were all great - really good, solid and genuinely supportive, even asking how I felt near the end (!) that's a first. What a lovely lovely race. I simply can't wait for this opportunity again, roll on next year. Thank you for keeping such a great tradition going. Date of review: July 10, 2011

The views were stunning it was a delight to be taking part in this marathon, the ladies' changing room and showers apparently an improvement on recent years, too. Date of review: June 4, 2011

In short: Kind of laid back and low-key but that's fine by me In full: I thought there were improvements on the previous year eg baggage lorries were much closer to the new finish this year; also not running on those bouncy mats at the finish was a real treat. It's not London and it doesn't pretend to or aspire to be either. The Edinburgh marathon is more relaxed and support is better if the weather is. However the t-shirt is horrible. It does not even commemorate that you have run a marathon on it though, come on. I will come back but would like a nicer shirt please next year. Date of review: June 4, 2011

In short: The hardest half marathon I have done but one of the most enjoyable In full: This was very hard. There were some good views of the South Pennines in the distance, other than that I was oblivious to most of the route as I was either running down hill at a pace my legs have never encountered or trying to work out the best way to get up the hills. Should I go for little shuffles or power strides, should I look up at the sky and pretend I am not running up a long hill, or look down and grit my teeth? By the time I was nearing the end all I wanted was my goody bag. There wasn't one! Just a great shirt and a bottle of water. I felt so great by this point that the missing goody bag was easily forgotten. They are for kids anyway. Great day out, superb organisation, friendly marshalls, good atmosphere, highly recommended. In short: This was my fourth Dash, I always enjoy this one In full: My time has come down each year by around 2 minutes, I have no complaints at all it's well organised, a good atmosphere, obviously there is little to entertain you whilst running along a road out of town and back but if you want entertainment there are other races to look at. In short: Thank you for all the organisation supply or provisions and support In full: The good people who provided much needed support in the heat should be applauded! Jelly babies, hose pipes, sponges, buckets of water... Really nice people shouting out whole hearted motivation - thank you to you all. I loved every minute of this marathon, my first and will definitely be back. Date of review: May 31, 2010
