In short: Challenging, but fun 10miles

In short: Not Flat!
In full: This is not flat as described, it is essentially laps of a medium sized hill. No PBs will be made here.

In short: Challenging 10k
In full: Nice to start and finish on the K2 track, but £18 is a little steep.

In short: This was my first ever race back in 2007 so it is always a bit special. Well worth doing it again and again.

In short: Too hot for a PB!
In full: Decent race. Well organised, despite being run on a fairly busy Sunday morning in Epsom. Very hot conditions meant that I ran out of water halfway round, another water stop would have been appreciated in a June race. Couple of medium climbs and a nice downhill finish! Still searching for that sub-50 PB...

In short: Make sure you go before you leave
In full: Toilet queues were ridiculous.

Got a PB as the course is nice and flat. Not sure I can do another 10.2 miles on top of that in 14 days time?!

In short: Poor start, but excellent everywhere else
In full: I think the start of this race may need some rejigging as a set of steps less than 0.25miles into a race is not the best idea - caused lots of standing still in a queue. The canal route ruined the early pace (mainly due to people unwilling to step into puddles thinking that their feet would remain dry for the rest of the 20 miles).

After it took 35 mins to do 3 miles, the rest of the course was excellent. Very challenging in places, but never impossible. Marshalls were superb, always offering cheery support, despite being very cold and wet. Water stations were well equipped and perfectly spaced out. The mile markers were near perfect according to my Garmin (every mile too). I wasn't a big fan of the finish though, back onto the canal route, and past a 20 mile marker, where I stopped thinking I had finished, only to walk round the corner and see the real finish!

The cup of tea and cake was like mana from Heaven, as it was freezing cold outside (the heating bill for the cricket club must be huge as it was toasty inside the pavilion!).

Most of my criticisms were amplified by the terrible weather, as overall this was a brilliant race, and very challenging, just what you need before a marathon.

In short: "The Hill" - it's bark is worse than it's bite
In full: Great race - got my third half marathon PB in 7 days! Was dreading the two hills, but left plenty in the tank for them, and they weren't that bad. Meant that I could really go at it hard for the last 4+ miles and got that all important PB.
