In short: Not exactly the best value event i've been to.
In full: Just returned from the Magor Marsh 10k. Didn't find the course particularly special and cambered lanes were a real pain to negotiate unless you ran in the middle of the road. I was more disatisfied with the lack of some sort of memento at the end, not so much for myself (as i've aquired plenty of bling over the years, just a simple bottle of water and a banana would of done) but for the many others, particularly newbies to the sport who enjoy picking up a tee-shirt or medal at the end of a race. All that was on offer was a cup of water, and a burger / buttie if you're into eating that sort of junk. For £14 i'd expect a little bit more to be honest.

In short: Undulating throughout, but a nice race.
In full: hadn't done this race for 7 yrs so had forgotten how tough it was, plenty of up's and down's throughout the course but nothing too severe. Marshalls were very friendly and organisation was fantastic. The goody bag this year was awesome, with at least a years supply of horlicks included, as well as the sports drinks, and the unique finishers memento !

In short: Marshalls were superb !
In full: I must say the race organisers and marshalls at this event did themselves proud, lots of encouragement throughout by everyone. The weather stayed fine (which was a bonus), although i ran with a fever (which in hindsight was foolish) and hence paid the price with a lacklustre performance during the final lap (after the lemsips wore off). I found some of the twists and turns to be a bit 'tight' and the wind was quite gusty in places, even making downhill running hard. Pretty good value for the entry price to be honest, considering the prices some marathons are these days. Not the most scenic place to run, but a marathon none the less !

In short: One of the toughest road marathons around, but well worth it !
In full: Perfect racing conditions, and excellent work by organisers and marshalls !

In short: Tougher than i imagined.
In full: Having never run this race before i didn't really know what to expect and only had feedback from a few runners who had run it before. I went into the race expecting it to be really tough..... and i wasn't disappointed. Pity the weather wasn't the best, the rain made it even harder later on the in the race as i started to get quite cold.
Was nice to get into a hot shower at the end though.
definitely will do this event again in the future.
Finish memento was fab ! made a nice change from the 'usual' medal.
Top marks for the race organisers, their really do pull out all the stops !
Nice sunny weather in 2010 please !!!

In short: Would be nice if there were a few more runners of varied ability.
In full: What can i say.....
Organisation and support was fab, even the ultra runners helped out to marshall and at the drinks stations !
Weather wasn't too kind, but thats to be expected here in the sunny UK.
Roads were a bit cambered and i felt the after effects this morning when my left knee was a bit achey, but nothing too serious.
Thankfully to my relief i couldn't fault the lap counting, and it was nice to have a bit of banter with them every time i passed :)
Got myself a 50k PB there yesterday, so something to aim for in the future.

In short: Tough going, but well worth it !
In full: This was my first attempt at a trail / off-road marathon, not surprisingly it took me almost twice as long as it would for me to complete a road marathon. Scenery was breathtaking, especially on the hill tops. LDWA were fantastic, great re-fuelling stops, everyone was friendly and made to feel welcome.
I'm useless at map reading so was fortunate to be able to find some company and tag along. It certainly has inspired me to seek out a few more trail marathons in the future, they're great stamina / endurance builders and act as a terrific alternative to training alone on a long slow run :)

In short: Another sunny Shakespeare Marathon....
In full: This being my 5th year in concession, always never surprises me though that for every time i've run this race its always warm and sunny :)
Ran it as a 'training run' accompanied by a few other like-minded athletes, seemed quite pleasureable rather than busting a gut for a change. Pleased with a sub 3:15 finish. Will return again in 2009 no doubt as its easy to travel to this race and the changing and shower facilities at the nearby leisure centre were a bonus (especially as they were FREE) !
Was a refreshing change from my usual local long slow sunday plod !

In short: Deserves to be a regular event on the marathon calendar.
In full: Well done to Dumfries RC for providing an excellent race. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenging run, and despite the cold wind it certainly promises to be a quick course.
If possible though, it would've been nice to see a finishing clock at the finish in Dock Park as spectators (apart from my family who were keeping tabs on my time) had no idea what time runners were finishing in. Other than that, excellent work everyone :)

In short: Not a bad race, but got a bit repetitive after a while.
In full: Nice weather for a race.(unusal for January),
A few idiots in cars seemed to enjoy driving past runners at rediculous speeds ('Death Race 2000' re-visited - me thinks) :)
The idea of an engraved glass at the finish was a nice touch and quite original, made a change from the usual medal.
