In short: Well done Trionium and Dr Rob for an excellent event In full: A beautiful trail race along the North Downs. Registration was smooth, with tea and coffee available for free. At the start we had a lady hold up a board with the words to Jerusalem as we sang along with Dr Rob. Due to recent rains it was very muddy underfoot but the rain stayed away for most of the day. This is a hilly course, but what goes up must come down! It amazes me that Dr Rob is able to put this event on, being a one man band. I appreciate the tremendous effort this type of event takes not just on the day of the event but also the day before where so much work is put in place. The marshals were excellent once again. The medal, technical tops and mug as well as a cooked breakfast were excellent. Although the weather was good, there was a lot of mist, preventing some glorious views. The water stations were well stocked with water, jelly babies and at some there was chocolate and crisps. Date of review: October 21, 2012

In short: Enjoyable run In full: A pleasant half marathon. Plenty of parking. Started on time. Loads of marshals, nice out route with great views at the out and back bit. A couple of pinch points on the outward leg that may be an issue if the event grows. You receive a mundane medal at the finish with an event bag that had bits and pieces including energy bar and a protein bar. Overal worth doing. Date of review: October 14, 2012

In short: Friendly event, no frills, does what it says In full: First time of doing this event, enjoyed the climbs and descents, but got a bit bored running up and down the same paths. Nice view on Holmbury Hill. Had to wait a little to get over the stile near the start and then difficult to pass runners for a few hundred metres before opening out on wide paths. Water stations were frequent, with supportive marshals. Date of review: July 26, 2012

In short: Nice run around Claygate common In full: Very low key local event. Marshals good. Nice run with a bit of road at the start and finish. For £10, good value. There were nearly thirty from our running club, so it was good to see so many happy faces. Date of review: May 7, 2012

In short: A good marathon for first timers In full: Third year in a row of doing this event. Organisers and main sponsors, Saucony, have put on a very good big marathon. Crowds were out in force again this year, I thought more than the last two years. Start and finish appeared to go like clockwork. The water stations were excellent. Not sure about the new water containers. I had one or two where I couldn't open the top, when squeezed the water came shooting out of the side to soak another runner or someone in the crowd. When they worked, they worked well. Only thing I saw that would annoy me would be the queues for the toilets around mile 6 - 7, it appeared the queues were extending back into the runners so less room for them to run in where the road was not that wide to begin with. If they were to get the full 18,000 runners who entered, running then this would become a huge issue. Overall a really good day out. Hopefully I'll be back next year. Date of review: April 16, 2012

In short: Good organisation In full: First time of doing this event. A bit more undulating than I thought it would be. We ran around the houses a bit and there were some long dual carriageways, so not a very scenic route. However very good organisation, the finish was pleasant in the stadium. A bit of chocolate and other bits to eat in the bag at the finish. The medal is ok. Baggage storage and collection was very good. Date of review: April 1, 2012

In short: Mildly challenging event. In full: They changed the course this year, I think I prefer it the other way. I didn't have an issue with the toilets, but I found the toilets near the start first. Support around the course was ok and as always a nice crowd at the finish. Didn't find the banana's at the finish, fancied a post race massage, but at £7.50 for 10 mins felt it was a bit steep. I'm not into goody bags and thought it was a big waste, could have given the bottle of water out at the tables, then they wouldn't have wasted the money on the crap that was in it. In short: Hard, hard, hard. Great event. In full: Again Dr Rob has put together a great event. Great support around the course with plenty of marshals and water stations. Despite the slippery conditions and shoes full of water twice at the stepping stones, this appeared to add to the occasion. Again the bagpipes were heard at two locations on the course, adding to the atmosphere. I was wondering how he gets to the second location so fast! Has he a twin? Well done Rob and all the marshals/helpers. Date of review: June 18, 2011

In short: Great event as usual from Trionium In full: No wonder this is in the top three half marathons. Great views, great organisation, excellent after event gifts, as well as a creme egg, with a full english breakfast. One or two runners have mentioned the event being expensive, however you have to look at events like the Kilomathon, Run to the Beat etc and realise how much value for money this event is. Taking into consideration road closures and policing costs this beats the bigger events by far for value for money, atmosphere and scenery. Also the bigger events are making monies for profit, the Trionium events do not. Rant finished.. Well done Rob and his marshals/support team. See you at the Munroe :-) Date of review: March 8, 2011
