In short: A decent run, but could have been much better In full: Delayed start was frustrating, 'small' parking charge was a bit of a cheek. Route was pleasant enough, didnt think it was that hilly to be honest, there was one at 4 miles or so which was playful, the rest werent that bad. Let down by the delayed start and the bitty finish, expected better from such a company. Date of review: April 16, 2012
In short: Horizontal rain + gale force winds + coastal scenery = AWESOME In full: My first foray into an event of this type and one that I shall remember for a long long time. I will be back for more! Date of review: April 11, 2012
In short: Good race, with great local support In full: A good race, well supported locally and organised well. Great t shirt and goody bag. Will hold a special place for me as it was my first half marathon.
In short: A great scenic race, no better way to start your Sunday! In full: A tough route with some hard ascents, taking in some great views over Birmingham. Well organised and great value too, a great race for all the family. Well done everyone who finished Date of review: September 1, 2011
In short: Very enjoyable race, great atmosphere, well done to all. In full: My first time at the Blakedown Bolt, will definitley not be my last. A well organised race, along a challenging route, through some lovely countryside. Loved the quirky and unique memento in the shape of a bolt. The beer tent and bbq also went down very well too. Well done to all involved. Date of review: June 18, 2011
In short: Every race should be like this! In full: Other races will just seem bland compared to this! A great atmosphere with lots going on for all the family gave it a real day out feel. The race itself was great too and the route challenging enough to push you. Probably the best race I've entered so far. Date of review: May 23, 2011
In short: A great midweek race, hope to be able to do it every year! In full: Great race that was organised very well. I really enjoyed it, route well thought out and challenging enough but def PB potential.
In short: A gloriously muddy romp through the wonderful Wyre Forest In full: A very enjoyable race with a good turnout even in the inclement weather. The hills and mud were hellacious and really challenged me, but the more seasoned seemed to bound up them! Anyway, a great run and a fab way to spend a Sunday morning. In short: Bottleneck start added to boggy terrain and styles equals challenging for a fast time. In full: Start point was a bit narrow, which led to a bit of a bottleneck and meant a slow jog for the first few hundred yards. Soon opened up though and plenty of room on the fields for overtaking. The terrain was really quite boggy in places and I feared I might lose a trainer or two! There were a decent couple of inclines which seemed to separate the field. The course was well marked and well marshalled with presumably enthusiastic locals. All in all an enjoyable morning. Thank you to the organisers, see you next year! Date of review: January 10, 2011
In short: A good challenging route for the beginner like me, and a good test for the heroes too! In full: This was my first 10k after doing a 5k in May. I had never imagined attempting such a distance before, and I am glad I did. The course took in 1 long steep hill, and 1 very steep hill which was almost like a scramble. My objective as a beginner was simply to complete the distance without stopping to walk, which I did. Date of review: October 7, 2007
