In short: NOT for serious runners
In full: Ideal for first timers and fun runners. BUT it is HORRENDOUSLY organised. Not sure why serious runners chasing a PB continue to go because all they do is slate beginners and charity runners. I did the race in 1hr 12 and thats super for me and a PB but anyone who wants a sub 45 or sub 60 min run should look elsewhere. Organisers dont bother with pacers or staggered starts or pens. Even I with my not-so-quick pace had to dodge people. Slow runners are supposed to run on right like i did, fast on left. No one bothers and marshals dont enforce. Goody bag is pointless. NO gels, NO drink, NO point. A teabag, a packet of sugar and a voucher for £1 off tiger balm. WHAT IS THE POINT? I cant make a cup of tea in central london! Medals given out in baggage areas NOT at finish line, ran out of medals cos people took two, or got sent to wrong baggage area and then found one in the goody bag. Baggage areas are NOT secure and there was one bay missing. Bags left in puddles, not undercover. Security issues! bags taken by relatives unchallenged, one poor lady had her bag stolen which resulted in theft of phone. £50 just a rip off. Two tshirts promised POST race as incentive for parting with £50. ONE pre-race tshirt sent by Nike who tried to make ALL runners wear them even tho runners mainly their for charity. ONE post race shirt supplied. NOT what was paid for and NO explanation given. Race organisers think its ok as sending 2 tshirts still but they are NOT what was paid for and devalues the race. Race packs arrive far too near to race day-if your lucky enough to get one at all! MANY people didnt receive theres and LOTS had missing tshirts or missing timer chips or incorrect size. Despite sending vouchers with size requested for the other tshirt they RAN OUT of tshirts. VERY VERY VERY badly organised. Race organisers DO NOT CARE as only in it for money. Would I do it again?.... Is HELL forecast to freeze over?.... Think I will follow advice and head to the Bupa 10k next time I fancy running in London! The only good thing about the race is the landmarks you pass running it. But I could pop up to London any sunday for that for FREE!
