In short: Good, challenging race.
In full: One of these years Theo's will get some good weather! Last year was a scorcher, this year it was wet and as a result muddy / slippy in places.

Pretty hilly course so not one for hunting a PB on but definitely worth doing.

In short: Good race, bad start.
In full: Shame that the start was a bit of a shambles otherwise this would have been a great race. As opposed to filing everybody in behind the start line we all had to work our way from the start line back towards wherever we wanted to start in the field but as it was a narrow country lane this was easier said then done!

It was very wet out there but thankfully there was no wind. Really enjoyed the course, very, very flat so definitely PB potential. I managed to come in with a PB myself so I suspect I may well be back next year!

In short: Roll on next year!
In full: Really enjoyed this race.

Saw some horrible weather forecasts prior to the race so despite the headwind that we had to contend with for a few miles it could have been worse!

There were a few undulations but nothing too harsh... just enough to keep it interesting!

Only a few minor things which could possibly be improved... the start and particularly the finish line didn't seem to be very clear, something which could be easily rectified and there seemed to be a lot of time to kill between arriving on the bus at Brampton and the start of the race.

Thanks to all the marshals along the route (who I think were from the Border Harriers club?) whop were all very friendly and encouraging.

In short: Excellent local race.
In full: Agree with previous comments about the organisation - couldn't have asked for any better!

Shame about the weather but it could have been worse.

Decent hill to begin with for the first mile or so and then nicely undulating for the majority of the course before coming back down the hill, which makes for a nice fast finish.

Thanks to everyone involved in the organistaion of the race... I'll be back again next year!

In short: Good race with room for improvement.
In full: There seems to be a bit of a theme emerging here... the location is fantastic and this race has the potential to be great but it lets itself down on the organisation front.

I was fortunate enough to get through the finish before the backlog developed but I agree with others in that you should NEVER have to queue to get over a finish line! The start seemed to be very crowded leading to a fair bit of traffic to begin with, did it have to start on such a narrow part of the park? The start was also delayed which isn't good given that everyone has warmed up only to cool down again waiting for it to begin.

The course itself is good, great scenery and undulating but nothing too drastic.

In short: Excellent race for a newbie!
In full: First marathon and I loved it! As many have mentioned the weather wasn't too clever but I suspect that any time lost because of the wind was made up for by the extremely flat course.

Support through the villages was fantastic and much appreciated as were the marshals and volunteers at the water and energy stations. They really kept me going when it got tough and helped me sneak just inside my 3.30 target.

Pens at the start worked well and meant you weren't fighting to find your rhythm for the first few miles. The atmosphere at the finish was fantastic as well.

Roll on 2008 and fingers crossed for more favourable conditions... that may well be wishful thinking though!

In short: Excellent race... will definitely be back!
In full: Fantastic organisation, everything to do with the start/finish area ran like clockwork. Fast course, slightly windy coming back along the front but can't really complain about the conditions. A few questions have been raised about the accuracy of the mile markers, hopefully though, it still added up to a full half and all PB's achieved are valid!! All in all a great day, thanks to everyone involved.

In short: Average race, could be better.
In full: Apart from the chip timing and baggage storage issues which have already been highlighted, the race was pretty well organised and the marshals were great. Must admit though once you've seen one underpass you've seen them all!
