In short: My first sub 3 :-) a fantastic day
In full: A very well organized race, you can tell it was done by runners with runners in mind. Some nice touches like the names on the numbers. Lots of water and feeding stations. A good proportion of club runners up to 75% meant it was made for Pbs, and am I glad I picked Chester to get mine, after pulling out of Mablethorpe in the heat wave the weekend b4. Lucky I had Chester as my plan B, next year it will be my plan A

In short: a good firts time race good pb Potential
In full: Ok lets look at this from a runners point of view. The cores was flat had 3 turns that where a bit sharp, the last one as you turned into the gardens for the final 385 yards. Was the worse as it was steep down hill 360 turn. There has been a lot said about the water stations, but that didn’t bother me as soon as I knew it was cups and not bottles I arranged my own water. I am lucky I can carry a bottle for miles, and sip it as I go.
To many people tend to rely on the water stations to be able to cope, in my experience that is not the way it is in most races. I took three bottles with me, b4 the race I put then on the sand Junes at the 8mile 17 mile spot . It would have been nice to have a competitors drinks table to put your own drinks on . But hay this is a virgin race. Give the organisers a brake. I talked to two of them at the end of the race, and they are already planning for next year. And how they can improve things. We have to support the efforts of these guys, or the only marathons we will be doing will be big city marathons. With big prices and having to dodge Mickey mouse and Donald duck. So I for one will be doing it next year. And will get that elusive sub 3 hours

In short: Very well organized went like clockwork, will defiantly do it again. Only two points. First, the K markers where well out. So next time ill put my Garmin on. And second there seemed to be some discrepancy with the timing, but waiting for the chip and

In short: Why didn’t I listen? To my mates back at the club and pick an easier first marathon
In full: My first marathon why did I pick this one. The scenery was beautiful.
The people fantastic. Organisation was like clockwork.
But the hill where torture, after 6 months training on the Lincolnshire Wolds, I thought I was prepared, and at Newby bridge In 1:27 every thing was going well, but I had underestimated the second half of the race, with a 7 mile climb to Windermere by the 20 mile mark I was done and limped in at 3:22. Don’t ever underestimated this one, its tough
