In short: Excellent event, well worth adding to the racing calendar!
In full: This was the first staging of this event and the organisers had obviously worked really hard to get everything right. The East Harling sports ground was a great venue - easy parking, good facilities and lots of room for spectators.

The route was more or less flat with an interesting off road section in the middle. Plenty of marshalls, two water stations and free homemade cake at the end which was delicious.

Only improvement would be to enable online entry to do away with the faff of stamped addressed envelopes (runners could collect numbers on the day)!

In short: Great trail race in the heart of the city
In full: This was a very well organised event - good pre-race info and efficient number and chip collection on the day. Great atmosphere at the start and lots of spectators out to support.

The course itself was challenging, especially with the steep hill which had to be negotiated twice but thought the 'King of the Hill' competition was a great idea. The finish was slightly disorganised as it wasn't clear where to get water from but that is my only minor niggle!!!

A definite enhancement for next year would be the addition of a kids fun run around the park before the main race. With so many families in attendance I am sure this would go down really well.

In short: A good race let down by poor pre-race organisation
In full: The pre-race instructions included a map with very few road names on which made identifying the race HQ a little tricky. Once in the hall the process of collecting race number and timing chips was shambolic with one large disorganised queue and the added requirement of having to tell 'the lady in pink' whether or not I lived in Norfolk (which they should have known from when I entered online!!!) As a result of all of this the race start was delayed by 5 minutes.

The race itself was fine, a good flat, fast course, much of which was along the seafront so there were a good number of spectators out as it was a nice sunny day.

Race finish was also well organised but it would have been nice to have had more than just a bottle of water at the end.

In short: One of the best half marathons around
In full: This isn't the cheapest event around but all of the things that are provided on the day all have a cost so overall it is value for money!

The course is scenic, taking in most of the best bits of Nottingham, and is well supported most of way around. The drinks stations were well provided with water and sports drinks, both in bottles which made them much easier to drink and carry with you which was good as it turned out to be a warm day, if rather windy.

The finish was well organised with an excellent medal although I'm not sure the goody bag is worth bothering with as it only really contained a bag of crisps and a Mars bar!

Overall, an excellent race and one to be recommended!!

In short: A very tough half-marathon, but strangely enjoyable!!
In full: This is probably the toughest half-marathon I have ever done, majority off-road and loads of killer hills. Being an 'out and back' course you knew you had to go back up the nice downhills you did in the first half, including the massive set of steps!!

The organisation of the event was first-class right from the detailed instructions that were e-mailed out in advance, through to the parking, collection of race numbers, the race inself and the excellent cooked breakfast at the end.

There were a lot less marshalls than other races I have done but this wasn't a problem since the orange arrows on the route were very clear. The weather was good too (it would have been very muddy if it had rained) which meant that there were a good few spectators out, especially at the halfway point.

The race isn't the cheapest but you do get a lot for your money (t-shirt with you name on, quality medal and a momento, plus the breakfast) so all in all I would say it is excellent value.

The wife carrying race at the beginning was also a very amusing added bonus!!

In short: A very well organised event
In full: This was my first time at this event and I was impressed with the organisation which was excellent (they even managed to organised decent weather!!)

The route was very pleasent, undulating but not too challenging and the marshalls were all very friendly and enthusiastic.

Nice touch to have a trophy rather than the standard medal at the end and the use of paper goodie bags was certainly very good.

In short: Well organised local event
In full: This was my first time at the Dereham 10 and I'll certainly be back. Everything was very well organised - easy car parking, lots of marshalls and plenty of people at the water stations.

The course isn't the most interesting of routes but it's flat and fast which makes up for it. The facilities at the school were good and the homemade cakes at the end were excellent!!!

In short: This race seems to be too big for itself!!!
In full: My first time at this event but I had heard good things about it so was very disappointed on the day!

The pre-race organisation was good - decent website, race number turned up in plenty of time and regular e-mail/text updates.

However, on the day it all fell apart! I know the organisers can't do anything about the weather but I suspect that has something to do with people just lining up to start anywhere - no-one wanted to hang about too long in the wind and rain, but it would have been useful to have some clear predicted racetime signs.

I personally didn't find the start too conjested but can see why others did. I felt the problem came when we were all herded onto the pavement at the Sealife Centre which was crowded with spectators.

Overall the course was very pleasent and I was surprised how many people turned out to watch on such a horrible day - they were most welcome.

The finish area was chaotic, only found the woman handing out medals by accident!! The medal itself was poor compared to other similar events and I couldn't really believe that was all we got! A t-shirt and goodie bag should be included for the price.

I don't think I would do this again as there are far better events closer to home.

In short: Change in the course is definately an improvement!
In full: This was my third time doing this event and I think the slight change in the route is a definite improvement as I hated that hill back into the Showground which has not been replaced by a more gentle incline through Easton College.

Weather this year was much better, rain stopped and the sun came out just before the start so it made for a much more enjoyable run. Good crowd as usual and decent goody bag at the end - nice not to just have a load of leaflets stuffed in a plastic bag.
