In short: My first half, in my home town... In full: ...and I really enjoyed it. Not at the time of course, but looking back it was amazing! I started to really struggle at between 6 and 7 miles, and I started running with a lovely guy called Norman who ran with me to the end. He was amazing, helping with my pace etc. I doubt I would have finished otherwise! I was about 6th from the end but I couldn't care less. I finished my first half and I ran the whole flippin' thing!! Organisation was fab, and I really like the t-shirt. Will be back next year, definitely! Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Let down again by poor organisation... In full: Last year this was my first ever 10k, so I was looking forward to it again despite feeling woefuly underprepared. I have to say I don't understand why race numbers and chips weren't sent out, especially when it was £14 to enter. It's not as if the chips were bulky and couldn't be posted. Luckily I got there early enough not to have to queue, but I can understand the frustration of people who had to queue twice. The race itself was really nice, scenery lovely as always, and I enjoyed it, despite not managing a PB. Date of review: September 29, 2008

In short: Really enjoyed this.... In full: I didn't do the GYR last year but decided to do this year's on a whim. Really enjoyed it, although I agree that the scenery wasn't exactly stunning! It was quite nice to run along Penistone Road and see people on the other side, and where there was support it was enthusiastic. Will definitely be back next year. Date of review: September 18, 2008

In short: Loved it, but sooooo hot! In full: After helping out last yr (and mumbling to myself that I should be running), I didn't hesitate in entering for this yr. I'd be quietly praying for clouds, but it can't have worked, and my goodness it was hot! That said, I really enjoyed it, and managed to match my PB, so I think in colder weather I'd have gone faster. The organisation was fab, and the marshalls and all other helpers were brilliant. Thanks to Karen and Reg for a fab event! Date of review: May 11, 2008

In short: A lovely venue for my first 10k, but let down by poor organisation In full: As I live 10mins from Clumber I was keen to do this as my first 10k. However, first impressions were that the organisation left something to be desired. There were huge amounts of traffic (to be expected) but no-one dealing with the bottleneck at the Limetree Avenue crossroads. The signage was poor, start positions not very well publicised. It was only by my brother noticing the small signs that I knew where to start from. On the flip side, the scenery was beautiful, really helped with the momentum. All the marshalls were friendly, and other runners seemed to enjoy it. I didn't experience any of the chaos trying to get over the finish line, but I wasn't impressed that I got the last but one cup of water, considering I was by no means one of the last to finish. Also, having pre-booked my t-shirt size, I was told there were none left and mine would have to be posted. I would assume this is due to people entering on the day not being told their shirts were supposed to be posted. I really enjoyed the experience, and ran a good time for my first 10k, and I'll do it again. Let's hope for a bit more organisation next year tho! Date of review: October 8, 2007
