In short: Three words - baggage collection fiasco
In full: Positives:
Course has PB potential - not quite as flat as the organisers stated but I prefer a few small hills.
Well marshalled and plenty of drinks stations
Good support from the people of greater manchester (particularly in view of the weather conditions)
Negatives:
The bizarre decision regarding number collection
The baggage collection disaster - the organisers should put an apology on their website; this could help reduce the risk of a serious drop off in entrants next year
Have said I won't do this again but if the organisers sort the two aforementioned problems in 2013 I would consider it for 2014.

In short: Impressive t-shirt, goody bag and spot prizes must make this the best vfm race I've done.
In full: Really good fun, well organised race. Enjoyed it so much that I almost forgot THAT hill.
Bu**er about the chip times though.

In short: Very flat course with definite PB potential
In full: Small field, flat course and well marshalled race meant that I achieved my sub 3:30 target.
It had a very friendly atmosphere. Some of the organisation had an amateurish feel but I liked that - It felt like a runners race rather than a corporate event.
I marked it down on value and organisation because of the lack of bottled drinks on the course. There were ample water stations but I personally can't drink from a cup while running.
This is only my 2nd marathon. I did Nottingham last year. Comparing the two I preferred this, although looking at the ratings here Nottingham comes out well ahead. Each to their own - if you want a small friendly race for a PB I would recommend this.

In short: Great race, with fantastic support from the people of Sheffield, unfortunately spoiled by the car parking fiasco.
In full: Joined the car parking queue an hour before the race was due to start and just reached the back of the pack as the race began (with several hundred runners still arriving). While I recognise I have a responsibility to get there on time allowing one hour for a race this size should be perfectly adequate. While I don't want to judge this race on one issue it did impact on the whole day - I spent the first few miles dodging round slower runners, failing to get sub 1:30 on a course with pb potential.

In short: Well organised. Definite PB potential - mostly flat. Traffic-free
In full: Beat PB by over a minute. Couple of hills on the way out, but amazingly flat course for a city as hilly as Bradford. Probably the most traffic-free run I've done. Not too many slow runners blocking up the front so not too much dodging around in the first km. Why show gun time in a chipped race - surely this just encourages slow runners to go to the front?

In short: Beautiful location, hilly but not mountainous, great local support
In full: Well organised, well supported, friendly race that raises money for the village school. Dent is not the easiest place to get to but the scenery makes it worthwhile. Steep hill near the start but after that reasonable hill/flat mix. Good pubs for post race relaxation. An enjoyable day out.

In short: Well organised, well supported - well done Sheffield
In full: My 10th half and this was the best organised and most traffic-free so far.The support on Ecclesall road was fantastic. Remarkably flat route for a hilly city - PB potential. Everything one could expect from a city race and cheerleaders as well!
