In short: Up & down, up & down, up & down - you get the message! In full: Did this a couple of years ago and don't remember those hills, the one between 6-7k's was horrible! Faultless organisation, brilliant (but challenging) course, great atmosphere and all for £9! Great event, would definitely do again. Date of review: May 12, 2013

In short: Unrecognisable from last year!! In full: I slated this race last year, but fair play to the organisers today was excellent! Parking was smooth (and free), the start was more organised, there were mile markers for pacing and no loop at the end. All in all a great race in ideal conditions. Only thing for next year is I would say they could squeeze another water station in, 2nd water station wasn't until around mile 8 which with the hills could have come a little earlier! As for the medal/t-shirt debate, I'm chuffed with the technical t-shirt, who wants a medal that sits in your bottom drawer? At least you can wear the t-shirt on training runs/gym! In short: An absolute shambles!! In full: This was a budget race for a non-budget entry fee, for an Event Management Company there were schoolboy errors from start to finish. Firstly the advertised 'small parking fee' was £3 - for 3 hours parking that is quite steep for a non-city centre location. The queue to pay for parking was the sole reason the race was delayed, everyone was scrambling around for money which caused the queues back to the motorway. It was obvious from early on that there was no way it would start on time but the organisers did nothing about it!! If you are going to charge for parking then either add it add it to the entry fee or tell us how much it is. Secondly, the obvious delay to the start - not ideal but could have been avoided. Thirdly, was it just me or were there no mile markers from mile 5-10? This was really unsettling as I didn't know my pace, I also think what mile markers there were, were in the wrong place as that last mile seemed a long one. Fourthly, for the price you would have thought they could have stretched to a technical t-shirt. I also think there weren't as many water stations as advertised. All in all, a really shambolic event and I won't be back to any Threshold Events. Only good thing I can think is thanks to the marshalls. Date of review: April 15, 2012

In short: What a horrible last mile!!! In full: Please tell me that VLM is not that hilly?? A good race that was well marshalled (Thank you)with a scenic route but boy did I find the hills tough!! There didn't seem any point where you weren't running up or down a hill. Organisation before the race could have been better, I arrived over na hour before the race and was marshalled to a car park a good 10-15 mins walk from the school, luckily I got a space on the surrounding streets! Start was a little confusing with the constant shouts of 'move back'. Once it got started it was good but the last mile was horrible, it seemed to go on forever! Last point is I would 100% pay more to have bottled water, I ended up throwing half the water up my face and struggling with hydration. 2:45 so happy with that! Date of review: April 1, 2012

In short: Cannot fault it!!! In full: First time at this race and what a gem!! Faultless from start to finish, parking was easy, leisure centre provided great facilities, good starting area, marshalls on course were on every turn and full of encouragement. Water stations were just what you need and every2-3 miles with bottled water. At one station they were giving out water, sponges, gels, jelly babies & chocolate!! What more could you want? Hoodie and great goody bag were great value for £19 and a better than expected time meant a good mornings work!! One disappointing element was the litter around the course, despite signs and organiser requests there were still loads of bottles, gels etc dropped around the course despite their being bins every half mile, this isn't just to help the organisers it keeps the support of the locals which is vital for races like this to survive!! This is not the organisers fault and everyone at Ivanhoe shoudl be really proud of putting on such a great event - will hopefully be back!! Date of review: March 18, 2012

In short: Great race that ran like clockwork. In full: Fantastic race that ran like clockwork from start to finish. Great to see Mick n Phil on the course. VFM is excellent with medal, free parking and decent goody bag - all for £16!! The only small gripe (and it is small) is for a Half Marathon - I would always be happy to pay the extra £ for bottled water. It was a hot day and cups just don't cut it!! It also appears some of us p'ed off the boat club by parking in 'their' car park! I didn't see the sign to be fair but some absolute jobsworth was furious that 'they pay for this car park' and went stomping off!! Even though there was still loads of space! Great day - thanks all involved! Date of review: March 11, 2012

In short: Good Race - Never seen weather like it!! In full: Race defo has potential, good start area with close parking, nice course and definite PB potential. Was disappointed with the start, spent the first 3-4 miles weaving in and out and jumping on grass verges!! Last mile was a killer which wasn't helped by the weather - I have never known the temperature to drop so quickly during the day!! I have honestly never been so cold & wet!! Would do again though! In short: Definite PB potential. In full: This one is definitely a PB course, I normally do 1:45ish but got 1:38 today! Organisation was faultless, sabotage of race markers could not have been helped!! Do have a couple of improvement ideas: 1. I'd rather pay extra and have bottled water, if not on the course then definitely at the end. 2 Water stations on a HM is not enough if you are doing cups. 2. Support - Very few people around the course and although I do understand marshalls are volunteers, a bit of "well done" etc doesn't go a miss. Having said that, I came all the way from Birmingham for this and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Thanks for organising. Date of review: February 19, 2012

In short: Excellent Race - Organisation and marshalls were brilliant. In full: Couldn't fault anything, excellent parking, no queues for your number, quick moving toilet queues. A couple of challenging hills bit seemed to be more than enough downhills. The biggest plus point was the marshalls - every single one encouraged people all the way around. Well done Stratford AC - Definitely back next year! Date of review: January 15, 2012

In short: Great Race! In full: Did this race 2 years ago and thought it was great, did it again and think the same, Great race to get miles under the belt as just 1 challenging hill (TWICE) however the downhills compensate!! Just 1 point - get a new T-Shirt, same one as 2 years ago!!!! Multiple order I think!!! Date of review: May 29, 2011
