In short: Every little detail thought of and more! In full: Excellent venue, names on numbers (and you can choose your own number), brilliant marshalls, free photos and race video, amazing medal and goody box, and all round friendly goodness. The "hill" isn't much really but when you have 17 laps it does get a bit tough, especially on a hot day. Apart from that it's a lovely course on a beautiful surface. Highly recommended! In short: Superb event, incredible organisation. In full: I can't imagine many first time events are so well organised and go as smoothly as this. Mildly challenging course but definitely one for a PB. Date of review: June 5, 2012
In short: Superb race In full: Brilliant race - lovely and low key and very friendly. On the first long lap, I thought that the "hills" were steep but short and no problem really. A little harder on the second long lap but by the last they really hurt.
I hope it's back next year - either on the same scale with the park open to the public (as an off road and ultra runner, I'm used to sharing paths with walkers, cyclists, etc) or with the park closed and more runners.. hopefully not too many more though :)
In short: mud, brilliant, mud, cake, mud, rain, mud, cold, mud. In full: Brilliantly organised and well marshalled, despite some horrible weather in the second half. The mud made what would be an already tough event a real challenge but I didn't encounter anyone who was too down about it - lots of fun had by all.
The hosing down of shoes at the end was a great touch, as was the cake and hot drinks (amazing lemon drizzle cake).
The only problem I had was getting out of the "car park" - the field we parked in was not in a great condition by the end and I ended up helping push a van out of the mud, and having my car pushed out of the mud in return. Can't be helped though - just one of those things.
In short: Absolutely superb race In full: Great mixed terrain, brilliant organisation and marshalling and really good value too. We were also blessed with great weather (given the recent snow and sub-zero temperatures) which made for perfect conditions and I got a big PB :) Date of review: December 12, 2010
In short: Once again a superb race - well done Purple Patch In full: My third running of this event and despite the heat towards the end I somehow pulled a PB out of the bag :) Brilliantly organised and marshalled and a definite must-do event for me. Date of review: July 26, 2010
In short: Super windy but flat and fast In full: I'm coming to love these races after doing well last year and improving massively here this year. Superb organisation, very friendly and super fast despite the wind. Date of review: May 20, 2009
