In short: Surprisingly tough but a top event
In full: My 4th time doing this and it doesn't get any easier! It's amazing how tough this is given that it's essentially flat. I do agree that bottles of water at the water stations would be better. Very well organised event that is fun to do and the post race re-hydration facilities are excellent. Nice touch having the showers available again.
Just a note to those who thought the course was long: although my Garmin showed 13.3 miles, I have little doubt that the course was measured accurately. The tunnel plays havoc with the distance measurement on these devices.(The same happens around Canary Wharf in the VLM and it has put an extra half a mile on to the recorded distance the twice I've done it).

In short: Very good value event.
In full: The last few midsummers I have done the Torbay Half but it was cancelled this year. Delighted to find another half near to the seaside on the corresponding weekend. Two nights in Blackpool, one dry and one boozy and the 68 bus played a blinder to and from Freckleton.

For: Friendly; well organised; a great rucksack memento. Against: Given the heat I would have preferred bottles of water rather than cups (sponsorship opportunity for a supermarket next year maybe?); route a bit dull, especially the last 3 miles and traffic a problem in places.
Wouldn't rule out doing this again but will probably return to Torbay next year if it's on.

In short: Tops for atmos and PB potential.
In full: My third time at the Half and another PB so perhaps I'm biased but I think this is a top notch event. Plus points: the tweaks on the route worked well;chip timing is a very welcome addition; Medal, t shirt and goody bag all improved; well marshalled. Minus points: lack of mile markers (didn't affect me with my Garmin though); impatient drivers in parts; PA system in the park could have been used to better effect at the start rather than just blasting out bland pop!
A definite must do event.

In short: Top event. Flat but tough-go figure!
In full: Plus points: general organisation, timing system, drinks stations, marshalling, showers, free soft drink in the boozer.
Minus point: a strong suspicion that the course is longer than the 13.1 miles.

In short: Splashy
In full: Weather a stark contrast to the heat of last year's event but that just added to the fun of one of the region's premier running events. Great atmosphere and tremendous support from the marshalls. Well done ARC!

In short: Lovely friendly race.with some great scenery and nasty hills!
In full: Having hitherto being run over the odd distance of 14K, this is destined to become a "must do" for people that like something a bit different from their 10K races.
The first half of the race is almost entirely a gentle downslope and, despite the narrowish footpaths in one stretch, this is very fast! Having plotted the route out beforehand, I knew what was coming in the second half so I went off like a mad sod and did what would have been a 5K PB (if it had been a 5K!). The second half of the course is a different animal altogether and there are two longish, very steep climbs with what seems like only a brief respite in between. For me this was plod city and I had to walk towards the top of the second climb! The reward for all that hill work is well worth the effort though with a lovely undulating stretch of about a mile across fields. The last quarter of a mile is pretty flat and once again quite quick if you've got anything left in the tank.
Well done Cobra, a very enjoyable event and all the better, in my view, for being a 10K.

In short: Splendid off road race over an odd distance!
In full: Lovely event this, in glorious countryside on good quality paths. Well organised and a nice t shirt memento. It would be nice if it could be somehow extended to a full 10k but that is only a minor gripe.
