In short: note to self multi terrain is not the same as road
In full: Entered this thinking a flat autumn half would be PB potential. How wrong I was. I didn't allow for the terrain in my pacing strateegy and boy did I pay for it. It may have been 'flat' due to the absence of hills but the terrain was bumpy, stony, slippery, narrow and deceptively challenging. A tougher than expected race with a long uphill finish making us beg for the end which we couldn't see. I can see the appeal of the race as it's an unusual setting but if you are after a time try Stevenage instead! Marshalls, organisation, fellow runners were great though.

In short: scenic HM - PB potential despite the hills. Enjoy the downhillls..
In full: http://www.chipresults.co.uk/Default.aspx
results slow to appear and even then I had to email the race organisor to find out about chip times! I am also not convinced gun times were accurate - clock said 1.45.29 when I finished but my gun time is 1.46.16! Anyone else find that? It was also a bit of a way to the first water station.
That said a great race, friendly runners and supporters and I will be back.

In short: great 20 miler training run for marathons. Pretty flat.
In full: Very well organised race. Was surpised how busy it was. I liked doing 2 laps of 10 miles and felt like the first lap was a warm up and the second a race! Lots of drinks stations and plenty of marshalls, thanks to the organisors. Quite a long walk to the overflow car park (1 long cold mile) - will bring warm clothes for after next time!

In short: not one for PB's if you're a road runner - just a fun day out
In full: Freezing temperatures and consequent pain in mine and fellow runner's hands after the BoD overshadowed this event for me. Running along debating as to whether wet gloves are better than none....In milder weather I could have really enjoyed the course. Easy parking, coffee stalls, very civilised. Yes the marshalls were few and are between and miserable - I guess they were cold too. Sadly in order to avoid frostbite couldn't hang around to enjoy the cameraderie at the end of the race. Not often I come position 1337 but 24th FV - says alot about the teststerone fuelled field! Maybe most women my age have more sense.....

In short: low key race in countryside, good marathon prep, good marshalling
In full: 21.2 mile race excellent practice for spring marathoners. The hill at 16 and again at 21 miles a bit cruel but at least the race ended on downhill! Curious positioning of finish meant I didn't know where the end was but then I was all the more grateful when I turned the sharp corner to see it in front of me! And with the 15 mile option at least I could tell myself that the runners overtaking me were going for the shorter option!

In short: My first half marathon - beginner friendly, I would say!
In full: People kept talking about 'the hills' but they didn't seem too bad to me - I train on Hampstead Heath, maybe that's why. The uphills are short and steep but the downhills seemed longer and more gentle. Marshalls did a great job.
