In short: My new favourite 10k In full: Loved this race. nice and flat (although some were unhappy that hills had been removed this year - no hills is fine by me!), really pretty route, great atmosphere, precision measured to exactly 10k and each 1k spot-on correct by my Garmin. As the previous comment, bit of a worry that so many things were right and yet there was a water shortage at the finish. Not fussed about not getting a medal, but the details did say that there would be one, and there seemed to be a shortage of t-shirts in a small size. Being sponsored by Bakers and Larners, a cereal bar and a bottle of water would have been much appreciated. Still loved this run, and got a pb! Date of review: October 17, 2011

In short: Friendly race, well organised, nice local pub In full: I was so hot and giddy that I didn't know my own name by the time I reached the finish line. Surprised that I didn't see anyone in a heap beside the road, but lots of water stations probably helped avoid any serious problems. Some nice challenging hills (short and steep and long and slow), and anyone looking forward to the long downhill on the return would have been as disappointed as I was - both times I have done this race there has been a fierce headwind. Looking forward to next year and hopefully it will rain (sorry organisers - only joking!!). Date of review: October 3, 2011

In short: Teething troubles for this new race In full: Very friendly, good cheerful compering and a nice atmosphere. A double circuit of a road loop, with a nice bit of downhill trail and then a nasty hack around the edge of a field (long damp grass and tractor tyre rutting). A steep hill middle and end (same hill) and then a long slow hill right at the end and back into the school grounds. Plenty of room to move as mostly quiet roads, but the field was tricky for overtaking. Not PB material as actually 11.08k which was a bit of a surprise. Enthusiastic organisers and if this even is held again I'm sure that the little problems will be ironed out. If the event gets any bigger more toilets will be essential as only 2 for 102 runners. Some lovely marshalls and some completely disinterested ones. Thank you to those who cheered us on! Date of review: May 9, 2011

In short: Great support, great marshalling, great race In full: Hills not as bad as I was anticipating from 2009 reviews, but some are quite long. Loads of water stations and very supportive Marshalls and friendly crowd. My first half-marathon and I absolutely loved it! Date of review: August 31, 2010

In short: Muddy, but otherwise pb potential In full: I really enjoyed this race which was my first in my home county of Norfolk. Nice friendly atmosphere. Nice touch of having water and bananas available at the start as well as the finish, and at the finish line water was passed out in a nice commemorative mug. Much more useful than another 'gardening' t-shirt. Anyway, the actual run: fairly flat with no real gradient until a slight hill around 4k, so consistent times. Second half is along a disused railway track (tracks removed). This was nice and cool and shaded but unfortunately the shade meant that the heavy rain from Saturday night hadn't quite dried out and it was very muddy and slippery as a result. This slowed the pace somewhat, but once I had given up trying to keep my feet clean it got a bit better again. A bit of a hill at the end and a tight turn/hill just before the finish but a very cheerful marshall was so enthusiastic that I somehow found a sprint finish - thanks for that! I got a spot prize too which was very generous, but obviously only good for those who got them. I felt like a winner anyway! Date of review: August 23, 2010

In short: Fairly flat - would have been quick if it hadn't been windy In full: Great sunny day, although a cold start and very windy making a pb tricky. Parking is at North Weald airfield with a shuttle bus - cheerful helpful drivers, but standing waiting for a bus takes the edge off the fun. Start is from the pub up the road but finishes at the hospice where there was lots of support. Goody bag not very special, but that means more cash to the charity. Energy drink at finish but no water, which is a shame as bottled water and energy drinks available at 5.8k, but a big bottle was too much and most got thrown away after a few sips. Glad that I hung onto mine for the rest of the race. Barbeque at finish. Well organised bag drop - you had to show your number to collect your bag which a good idea. Date of review: March 29, 2010

In short: Flat and quick In full: Flat as a pancake and varied views of lovely Cambridge make this a quick and scenic run. Friendly marshals (lots of whom were foreign - presume helpful students - thank you all), and a great drums band as you came back onto the green. Roads, paths, cobbles, short grass, lumpy grass - a bit of everything. Agree that there was something funny about the distance - beat my pb by 4 mins and I was going slow due to a mild injury! The easy run just adds to the feel-good-factor of a charity event, so perhaps it was deliberate Date of review: October 19, 2009

In short: Hot & smooth In full: The late start makes for a struggle on a sunny day as it gets very hot, but the village lanes are smooth and make a PB very do-able. Good T-shirt. Bring a quid for a big chunk of cake - it takes the pain away! Date of review: July 13, 2009
