In short: great run...pity about the atrocious weather In full: fifth time doing this and this is the first time it has ever rained, so i have got away with it lightly but boy did the weather really bite me on the bum today. same route and same great organisation makes this a great race, and of course the finish in the madejski stadium really helps to keep you going. my one gripe for this years race was the water bags which were given out instead of bottles.i was wearing gloves as it was so cold and found it very difficult to open the damn things up, especially with wet gloves...please revert back to bottles!!! not my best time ever this year but i have to say being drenched from start to finish did not help my enthusiasm. but apart from that i'll be back again next year!!! In short: not a bad course..just a bit slow along the river with limited passing places In full: greta morning for it...nice and crisp and sunny skies. this was a nice enough course but i did find the first 4-5k a bit boring as it seemed to be just one long straight road. ok going along the river but the path was a bit narrow in places which meant having to run at the persons infront pace rather than my own...think i could have taken at least a minute maybe 2 off my time if i could have overtaken in certain places.and the last few k's reminded me of the reading half marathon with the out and back bit at the end...always find that a bit soul destroying. all in all though nicely organised and a nice medal to finish with. In short: fast flat race..i just didn't do it justice! In full: second time doing this...and i found it a struggle today in the heat...and a bit of a chest infection which i know i shouldn't have run with...but great organisation throughout and the support all the way around was great.was it me or did anyone else not see or experience the "cooling" misters that were supposed to be at a couple points around the route? anyeway good medal t shirt and goody bag at the end. will certainly do this again! In short: beautiful day and fantastic race as always In full: this was my 4th time doing this and it is still as good as the first! beautiful conditions today...thankfully alot cooler than last weekend, so a good time was possible. fantastic support all the way around and the finish at the Madejski Stadium is a real bonus after 13.1 miles of slog.i hate to add any quibbles but there are a couple of points in the town centre which may need to be looked at as therea re some tight spots which on a couple of occasions just about brought me to a standstill...anyone reading this who ran it will hopefully know where i mean! anyway...very happy with beating last years time by 4 minutes (1hr46mins) so i'll be back again next year! well done all at Mizuno and Sweatshop and everyone else involved for organising a great race! In short: nice to see the start has changed from last year In full: definite improvement to see the start on the main road unlike the usual one of just outside waitrose with a sharp turn within 100 meters which proved a touch chaotic in previous years...so well done striders for listening to "US". anyway...the route has been tinkered with a little bit but not in a bad way...it still has the challenges including that seemingly never ending climb between 5 and 6 miles....and the marshalls were as encouraging and plentiful as ever. i always enjoy this run and will definitely be back again next year! well done striders for a very well organised event! In short: lovely scnic trail run In full: first time doing this run and it was thoroughly enjoyable. i never like doing lap races as i dont like to know what i've got to do again, but apart from a bit of a short sharp climb at the end of each lap this was nice and flat. definitely would come back again and do this! nice cuppa at the end and jelly babies if you wanted them! goood quality t shirt as well! In short: nice race but lack of distance markers made it tricky to pace yourself In full: first time doing this and it was definitely a race of two halves. nice atmosphere at the start, and a steep downhill start for the first km...little did i know that the last km would be that same hill..but going up!very picturesque, but my only gripe would be lack of passing places in some areas, so you had to run at the same pace as the person infront, and only one distance marker...the 5km. killer of a finish though!
