In short: very picturesque, organisation needs work In full: Low points: timing chip failed at start poor goody bag no t-shirt-not even one for purchase insufficient toilets long queue for baggage storage below average communication before the event
high points: beautiful scenery flat course, though slippery in places because of the rain. Would consider trail shoes if wet in future nice medal plenty of water stops (though bottles would be better)
There are plenty of points to improve upon in future years, but the course was nice and I would definitely consider it again if improvements are made.
In short: Good course, organisation needs improvement In full: I really enjoyed the course. Ran a much faster time than I expected despite the weather. It's a shame the weather was so poor, as the most scenic bits of the course were riddled with puddles. I saw nearly every distance marker. Wish there were a few more distance markers at very end as I didn't know how much of the stadium we were running and I could have started my sprint sooner. Marshalls were very friendly. Goody bag and tech t-shirt were good (and you got to pick your size).
Organisation could be improved in future years. The parking at Kassam was a nightmare. Took ages to get in (nearly missed the start despite leaving what we thought was ample time). Race finish blocked the exit so we were stuck at a dead stop in a queue to exit the car park for 90 minutes. This was made more frustrating because it was pouring with rain and didn't have extra clothes, so was very cold and wet in the car-a space blanket would be a nice consideration for goody bag next year. Signage for start line/toilets/baggage could have been improved.
I would definitely race it again, but would rethink my parking for next time! Date of review: October 23, 2013
In short: Hot and hilly In full: Pros: Marshalls in participant village very helpful. Lovely setting. Extra water stations. Free gel at 13K Cotton t-shirt and medal
Cons: Spectators fairly quiet Race started late (apparently due to traffic) Starting pens had too wide of range (sub 2hr, 2-3hr and 3+hr) wished for another water station in second third (think they ran out)
Course: VERY undulating at beginning and end, fairly flat in middle, but quite exposed to heat. (An unusually hot day for October 25+C). Date of review: October 2, 2011
In short: room for improvement, but nice charity race In full: the pre organisation could have been better. no course map given out, no storage for bags (due to 'police recommendations'), only 4 portaloos with massive queues, sound system failed. the course involved 4 laps which became a little monotonous, but very flat and good for PBs. goodies included t-shirt, small water, cloth bag and a bite-size chocolate bar.
