In short: my 5th high legh race was going to be my last but i may well change my mind.... In full: last year i think the race lost some of its character due to lymm running club taking over the running of the event. profit seemed to be more important than making improvements to the race. but i have to hold my hand up and say every aspect of todays event has been improved. the new start/finish area, the toilets, chip timing, excellent finish line commentry, instant print off of your time, quick online results. well done lymm running club. minor niggle... surely with 450+ runners prizes should be awarded to the first 3 male/female finishers and not just the winner and a prize for all age groups. In short: i love the smaller low key events but if all the bigger events were like this i would be converted. In full: faultless from start to finish. i echo what people have already said this year but i will add.... i wasnt going to race chester but as my wife got an injury she transferred her number to me. this was done on the day which meant a new number and chip issued to me. all done for free.
In short: if you want a p.b. then this is the race for you In full: this popular race is serious p.b. potential. very competative up front, especially this year being included in the cheshire champs. excellent parking and good HQ. no frills, no scenery to look at, but on the plus side no traffic or pedesrians get in the way. oh and a new p.b. for me Date of review: March 31, 2013
In short: the going...very soft to boggy In full: i know tatton park well and knowing the route i was prepared for the mud. maybe the organisors should have warned runners that it could be muddy. i really enjoyed the race and after recent injuries i feel i'm hitting a bit of form again. i love the middle section of the race at the far reaches of the park where the views across the bollin valley toward manchester airport are stunning. i would recommend any races at tatton but do bring your trail shoes at anytime of the year. In short: double marathon are you mad were the comments i have been getting over the last few months but you dont have to run both. In full: if you run only one of the days this is a perfect first marathon race. pancake flat, freindly, easy and free parking and returning to the start every 6.5 miles for reasurance and encouragement from freinds and family. having said that it was a personal disaster for me having had a cold and stomach ache over the last week i failed to finish. thanks to everyone for their kind words.
