In full: Very well organised and good value. Liked the medal and the refreshments were very good. Easy parking. Well done to all the helpers and marshals. Not enough toilets and course is on the dull side. Date of review: March 30, 2013

In short: A must do race In full: Fantastic event. If you only ever run one marathon this is the one. Organisation is second to none cheerfull marshalls, endless water/fuel etc etc. Yes the finish area is a bit of a challenge but what would you expect with 37k runners and all their supporters. Always crowded on the course but you can get a PB if you train hard. The only negative for me is the number of runners who think they are going to run a 'KENYAN' time and somehow promote themselves to the faster pens and then walk or run at 5+ hour pace from the start. Perhaps a stagered wave start may ease the bottle necks in the early stages. As ever the support on the course was incredible. Thank you to all those who came out and cheered on all the runners. In short: Well done Fleet & C In full: One of the best organised halfs around cant fault it. Friendly and supportive marshalls and good support. Not an easy course on a warm day but PB is possible if you pace it right. Nice medal. Be back next year. Date of review: March 26, 2012

In short: Nice day out on the South Coast In full: A very different marathon. Friendly event lovely scenery. Weather was very kind but this year but could be really tough if wet and windy.
Overall well organised but some more marshalls at key points or better signage would be helpful. Plenty or well stocked water/fuel stations and nice medal and Tshirt.
Despite the varied terrain managed a PB so very pleased and would certainly recommend. Date of review: December 19, 2011

In short: Well organised and great value In full: Second time run and for some reason felt much harder this time. The uphill from around miles 6 to 8 seemed to go on but maybe I'm just getting older. Great marshalls and good support. Very good value for money ane will be back next year. Weldone to all involved. Date of review: May 8, 2011

In short: Enjoyable run in the country In full: Nice event. Overall very well organised, perhaps the start and finish could be tweaked. Clearer start pens and faster access to water at the end. Great marshalls and volunteers at the water and sponge stations. Sorry to hear about the abuse from some drivers (morons). Date of review: March 27, 2011

In short: Not sure about the Chip time! In full: Third year of running this event and I think the new course is an improvement. Straightforward race with no frills. Always find this one has a fairly fast field with mostly club runners. Like the previous poster my chip time was 16 seconds faster than my own watch timing so not sure why that would be. In short: Start Pens! You must be joking In full: Firstly the positives? Easy parking, Lots of tolilets, good value for money. The t-shirt is top quality and a very nice medal.
The not so good. No starts pens and the signage that there was was next to useless. Times were all within yards or each other and you could only see them if you were standing next to them.
I have run here before and knew what to expect so I moved to the front early and although I am not quick I was certainly not out of my depth. Basically the elite runners were mixed with every pace of runner there was. Not good.
The pacers! Did they understand that they are not all meant to stand next to each other at the start? You only found them on the course by chance and the only one I saw was the 50min guy who to be fair put in a very accurate time. I passed th 45 min pacers sign on the road (no sign of the pacer) at about 2k.
I like this event but I can see why it gets some negative feedback. It would be very easy to fix and hopefully the organisers will improve the start for next year. Date of review: June 13, 2010

2010 Edinburgh Marathon

In short: Could do better In full: Second time at Edinburgh and even hoter than 2009. Who says that its cold in Scotland?
Not the most exciting course and when will the organisers realise that runners need water more frequently than every three miles. Especially in the later stages and in hot conditions.
Well organised at the start nightmare at the finish. No bunching at the start and good idea to have two starts to ease the congestion.
However why did we have to walk so far to retrieve our bags? Then there was the trek to the shuttle buses. I can see why the buses were so far away but it was not what you needed after such a tough race.
Where there was support it was great and the locals deserve full praise for their efforts with water and hosepipes etc. The race crew were also great and deserve a big thank you.
Why there were no showers on the course I dont know. The only one I saw at about 21 miles was not working.
Nice medal and t-shirt but I think I will be looking for some positive feedback from th organisers to the points raised by runners before I do it again. Date of review: May 24, 2010
