In short: Great fun, plenty of hills and mud. Very welcoming. In full: Well organised, even the expected rain was replaced by bright sunshine for most of the race. Wet and muddy, great fun for a trail race but it did mean that, with the hills (and there were plenty of those) PR potential was minimal (for me at least).
Very welcoming and relaxed, with great support from start to finish from marshals and fellow runners.
I will definitely be back. Date of review: June 24, 2012

In short: Superb event. Very well organised and amazing support from locals, friends and family. Can't wait for next year. In full: My first marathon and couldn't have wished for a better event. Great organisation - bag drop and collection worked perfectly, plenty of toilets (especially for blokes prepared to use the park's natural facilities), more water/powerade stations than you could ask for (I thought the water pouches worked really well, just the right size and easy to carry - had one misfiring pouch but I suspect that was user error).
The support from locals, other runners and friends and families was amazing. Jelly babies, oranges and high fives all helped me to keep going and to beat my target time.
Really enjoyed the route, good balance of urban and countryside. Reasonably flat and the uphill section right at the start acted as a natural brake to stop me going off too fast.
Having decided in training that marathons weren't for me, I've already signed up for Brighton next year.

In short: Lovely countryside route, good atmosphere, tough hills In full: Pysched myself out the night before, reading reviews of last year's race only to find the hills were even longer and tougher than advertised but the descents were great. A very rewarding run. Shame about the water stations, perhaps there is an art to running holding a small plastic cup - I ended up wearing more than I drank.
