In short: Has to be a PB In full: This race has to be PB based purely on the fact I don't know any other 30K races! Very hilly race but a great prep run for a spring marathon. Good support all the way round through some wonderful landscapes, poor showers at the end a reflection of the school building not the race. Just a great event. Date of review: February 20, 2015
In short: Where do you get changed? In full: Ran this race on the back end of a hard season with a view to running The MK Marathon in May 2015. Got there early and plenty of free parking always welcome. I don't think I've ever entered a race where there was nowhere to get changed. If it was wet I'd have been in trouble, thankfully it was dry but very cold. I was at the start for 10am on the button but the starter kept delaying it to allow people to join from the toilets, the queue looked massive. 4 minutes does not sound a lot but it felt a long time in that cold wind. The course is nice but quite technical with lots of switchbacks, the marshals were great. Not sure about The Marathon now, this race could do better. Date of review: December 15, 2014
In short: Bottled water and a 0900 start would make this the race of the year..... In full: This is my first spring marathon away from London although I run Abingdon every October.
This a great race.
I live an hour away so was able to sleep in till 0630, big plus. Parking was excellant, seconds away from the start finish, baggage/changing all good and plenty of space to relax beforehand. It's a rolling course as opposed to say the hilliness of Bungay but it is glorious scenery for the whole race. Slightly disapointed that there was no bottled water supplied and a 0900 start would help against any hot weather but I shall be lining up again next spring. Halstead for fun. Abingdon for a PB. well done Halstead Date of review: May 20, 2013
In short: If this was cycle race then it would be The Paris - Roubaix In full: Good parking right near the start/finish which is always a bonus and plenty of staff at hand to help you book in.
Start very cramped and found myself climbing over the back of people for the first 1/2 mile.
The course took us over type of terrain possible and some it was only single track width which caused a few problems towards the end when lapping slower runners. Could have done with bottled water instead of cups please.
It was well organised, well marshalled and a very good first attempt, it deserves to be a success but may struggle to expand much bigger in its current format. Date of review: March 3, 2013
In short: Just simply a great race........ In full: Very well organised with parking right next to the start/finish. 3 miles round the base sorts the runners our before you hit the roads but to be honest I only saw 2 cars during the whle race. Excellantly marshalled and loeads of local support. Superb scenery too and a lovely rolling profile with a great medal and T Shirt at the end. PB for me too so no complaints. In short: A decent little race... In full: A good race 5 weeks before the London Marathon being quite a rolling course so a fair test on the legs. Quite a walk from parking to register and bottled water would have been a big help. Nicely marshalled though and brilliant to have your results as soon as you pull up... In full: Don't be fooled by the race name, this has nothing to do with The City of Norwich....you could be anywhere rural. Having said that to 3000 odd runners all within 5 minutes walk of the start is an achievement in itself. The course is rural and flat and starts off on grass. I made the mistake of being honest and starting off in my predicted time slot and after half a mile hit the first wall of people punching above their weight. Very windy and exposed but a good feel throughout...A t-shirt would've been nice though. Not offensive but could be better. Date of review: November 28, 2011
In full: I was looking for a 10 mile race a week before the Norwich Half to get some quality miles into my legs and this race ticked all the boxes. Very undulating but still flat enough stretch out in places. Very well organised and supported but still trying to find the race times on the webite. A good race and often not enough 10 miles races about. Date of review: November 21, 2011
