In short: Great atmosphere, great views, great race In full: Excellent race with a tough course but outstanding views.Very friendly, especially the vocal, supportive marshalls. The climb up the Great Orme feels like it will never end, but it's downhill and fast to the finish. Great organization, just needs a tweak at the end to sort the bottleneck. Already pencilled in for next year. Date of review: November 26, 2010

In short: Fiasco In full: Chaotic and dangerous start area, fiasco finish.......run 13 miles and then queue up for 3 minutes to cross the finish line; surly "bouncer " staff at the changing area; stand in the cold for 20 minutes to collect your medal! Goodbye forever big city races. Date of review: October 25, 2010

In short: GREAT RACE IN SUPERB SCENERY In full: Another fantastic day in the Lakes.Excellent course but I'd forgotten how tough the run out was. Made up for though by the descent and hurtling down to Keswick. Sunshine was a bonus. It's the 3rd time we've done the race and the 1st time we've seen the views! The usual family friendly atmosphere that we've come to expect from this series, with the bonus of a great tech t-shirt. Graham and his crew put a ton of effort into laying on these races and they really are season highlights.Shame that some people don't read the race details and know what to expect. Can't wait for Coniston. Can we have more sunshine please? Date of review: September 6, 2010

Great scenery with smiles and encouragement from all the marshalls, plus the best post-race cakes ever. Excellent goody bag with the tech T-shirt a bonus given the reasonable entry fee. In short: Fantastic Half Marathon In full: Really excellent day. Easy to park, great baggage drop off in the NIA, and then straight out of the doors and onto the start line. Course was good, and the crowd support really encouraging. The finish straight down Broad Street was really noisy, I even managed to find a sprint (!) finish. The finish area was really well organized with a superb medal, t-shirt and goody bag (I must have dropped my Turkey, there must have been some reason for the cranberry sauce?) I headed back to the car park dreading a potential Great North Run hour long traffic jam, and instead drove straight out and was on the M6 in 5 minutes. Many thanks to everyone for the work in making such a huge event such a success. Thanks Birmingham. See you in 2010! Date of review: October 13, 2009

In short: Fantastic day in the Lakes In full: Didn't think the Hawkshead race could be topped, but this was a fantastic run. The atmosphere before and after was great, the samba band added real excitement, and the run had everything...steep hills, peat bogs, glorious views and 6k downhill! Another VO2 gem. Bring on Coniston! Date of review: September 11, 2009

In short: Great scenic race In full: Thought the organization was spot on.Car park next to the start; nice family friendly finish area;good medal and goody bag.Yes there were queues for the toilets and chip timers, but there were 1000 runners...get there earlier folks.Course was very scenic out of town with the gradual climbs making it just tough enough.Loads of support and great marshalling and water station helpers to cheer you on.The 209 team deserve a lot of credit for laying on a great run.See you next year. In short: Another superb Lakes day In full: Can these events get any better? Stunning scenery, great atmosphere, smiling marshals, chocolate mint cake and sunshine! These guys wrote the book when it comes to laying on the perfect trail race and providing yet another brilliant family friendly day. Everyone was still smiling even on the v.up bits, and it was amazing seeing just how quick the blokes at the sharp end move. Read the reviews, don't take our word for it, running does not get any better. See you in Garburn, Thanks Graham and the team! Date of review: April 20, 2009

In short: Another greta day in the Lakes! In full: Great run.Very tough and quite demanding, but that just makes the sticky toffee pudding guilt free!Usual superb organizing; friendly marshalls (thanks to the youngsters for the life-saving jelly beans); suicidal frogs; amazing scenery.Totally knackering but a real sense of achievement. It's 3 days after the race and I can nearly walk again!Thnaks to everyone for more great Lakeland memories.See you in Hawkshead. In short: You can only get so wet! In full: Massive thanks and awe for even getting a race started in the conditions.....I know the Lakes can be wet, but good grief! Usual fantastic atmosphere and beyond the call of duty support from the marshalls who smiled on inspite of the torrents. My kit, shoes and car will never be dry again, but who knew you could have so much fun in the mud. Thanks again to Graham and the VO2 crew for their efforts; 2 events bashed by the weather in a month is a lot to put up with. Date of review: October 6, 2008
