In short: Lovely scenic route around canals and lakes made up for high price and some poor organisation eg. no mile markers.
In full: Really enjoyed the route with interesting twists and turns, and didn't even mind it being 2 laps, but a major mistake by the organisers was NO MILE MARKERS. Unbelievable. The 10k taking place at the same time had distance markers so why couldn't we ? Also don't know how the £20 fee is justified - if some of it went on the chip timing then runners are just paying to make the organisers life easier, in that they don't have to write down finishers munbers and times.

In short: Wonderful scenery and a great off-road challenge on rocky paths and muddy fields.
In full: Overall a brilliant race that I would recommend to anyone. Ideal weather this year for the lovely views of the reservoirs and hills. The long climb right at the start for over a mile ensured that the later, smaller hills were a challenge on tired legs. Interesting variety of stuff in the goody bag and top quality vest almost made me feel OK about the £20 fee, but why no discount for attached club runners ? Main gripe was with some other runners who barged past on narrow, slippery paths or downhill rocky terrain, which was dangerous. Come on you macho guys, grow up - do those few seconds really matter when you could injure someone ?

In short: Well-organised romp through lovely countryside, mainly off-road on muddy paths, stony tracks, and fields, through gates and over stiles
In full: Flat first mile, then uphill becoming v.steep on rocks to summit of Cloud. Some steep, muddy downhills then gradual descent with last 2 miles mainly flat. Memorable change from all the anonymous flat, fast road races.

In short: Off-road muddy trails through woods, canal paths, fields. Ups and downs every mile, many quite steep.e
In full: Tough going but unforgettable, I thoroughly enjoyed it. A refreshing change to run completely off-road for a long distance race, on a variety of surfaces with some great views along the way. A low entry fee and smooth organisation makes it great value.

In short: Lovely undulating course on twisting country lanes. Less than 100 runners kept it small & friendly, and a bargain at £5.

In short: Great scenery on beach/dunes/woods, although the straight stretch on the beach is far too long. Well marshalled & friendly.g

In short: Unique venue with nice scenery. Main problem for me was lack of mile markers.
In full: OK, a few teething problems, but not bad for a first effort. I mean, how many of us have ever tried organising a race ? I know I wouldn't want to, so good luck to them for the future. I'm just grateful to have a new half-marathon on the calendar, as I've done the usual ones in Cheshire so many times.

Can't agree with all the 'no water' whingers - how much water do you need on a cool day in March ? Every 4 miles is fairly typical for a half-marathon, even in summer you generally don't get more than one every 3 miles.

In short: Beach, dunes, woods, paths.....and red squirrels. Fun the whole way.
In full: Friendly village atmosphere, lovely course if you forget the PB. Shame it's so overpriced now a major charity is organising it, rather than the village pool fund committee who did it for the first few years.

In short: Enjoyable, friendly atmosphere. Fast, flat, 2-lap course with sea views. The wind in your face made a challenging first 3 miles, but also enjoyable with it behind you the last 3 miles.
