In short: A village based challenging cross country race with lots of mud and some thigh busting hills In full: Really glad I did this but dont look for any PBs as there are a couple of hills, including one in the last half mile which are very challenging. A foggy day but didnt take away from beauty of the woody Chiltern valleys. Good atmosphere and will be back next year. Well done to all the organisers, the cheering marshalls and many locals urging you on up the last hill Date of review: November 20, 2011

In short: Lots of clubs involved but still a welcoming local race In full: This race manages to take you out into the countryside from urban Southampton and despite the run through a large industrial estate, you also run through part of Broadlands. Good organisation and marshalls very encouraging. Well done Lordshill. Date of review: November 6, 2011

In short: A friendly local trail race on a warm day a challeninging scenic course In full: Ran with a friend and really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed seeing the marshalls who were all in fancy dress and also lots of children in scary costumes handing out sweets and getting into the Halloween theme. An excellent race split into 10K and 10 mile, the latter I will definitely race next year. Good job by Blackwater Valley Runners Date of review: October 30, 2011

In short: For a good cause so worth the trip and large good natured field but spoilt by poor course which much further than 10K In full: A blustery day which was likely to effect a PB but it started promising, until 5K however i think it went wrong when we entered some coastal parkland for the turnround. Comparing the map with my garmin map I think the marshal was too far east and was near Sea Road not Sea Avenue thus in my view nearly 1.5 KM further on. This then forced lead runners on the way back to climb through a fence as there was no way to pass back through the one gate which was allowing the following field through. We then had to cut across the field to get onto the seafront! This explained why at 8 km mark we had already nearly done 9.5K.At finish my Garmin showed just short of 7 miles at 6.9m. Shame really but all funds to good course, lots of support but not sure if I would run again Date of review: September 11, 2011

In short: Some real tough hills but beautiful views on high ridges In full: This was a real toughie with some step climbs and lots of mud. Super marshals and a big thank you to the lovely young lady at the water station at 10 miles who had the largest bowl of jelly babies I have ever seen, which provided a lift for the last run in. In short: A friendly local race with some hills to test your legs In full: A nice wet morning run in the Hampshire countryside Last couple of kms you join the 5K run so helps you along to the finish. Only thought if they cant provide a momento to on the day entries how about considering offering the most famous local produce of watercress, which I would be happy to take home and give the race a unique twist as the last mile is run through the watercress beds ! Great to see all the children in the fun runs and everyone enjoying themselves despite the rain. Be back next year, well done rotary club Date of review: June 12, 2011

In short: Local school organising a really good 10K with great woodland route. Well done In full: The busy registration and start at the school provides a local community feel which after a tight start devlops into a great woodland run. Really enjoyed this and marshalls supportive throughout. Some sharp corners en route and slowed up on run in at the end due to parked cars and traffic but cheered all the way to the end. Know what to expect next year and a well done to everyone involved a good race. Date of review: May 2, 2011

In short: A really good venue for a race. Good organisation and a broad field of runners with lots of family support. In full: A well organised race which was quite challenging as it was hot for April and the trails around the golf course had some unexpected sharp hills which slowed down any chamce of a PB !Good venue to start and finish at the business park with good organisation from Claire and Chruis who also went to great effort to identify as many runners as possible as they ran the home stretch which encouraged repeated races for the line which entertained a family based crowd. I shall know what to expect next year, well done Purple Patch ! Date of review: April 26, 2011

In short: A challenging race for a 10K but great route In full: Never done this race before but includes parts of the Hogs Back and Farnham Pilgrim Marathon routes. Cold day but dry and was wise to arrive early. Very friendly atmosphere with focus on raising money for great cause which can get forgotten in club races, very good value with t shirt medal and goodies. Will now definitely do Hogs Back in few weeks time. Well done to CHASE Date of review: November 9, 2010
