In short: Brilliant event, and superb organisation. My joint favourite event of the year with Helsby 4 villages in January In full: Yet again another brilliant GCR and I managed to get a great time for me of 1:59:44. I love this event, great start at the Castle, amazing countryside, superb support through the villages and a grandstand finish.....Awesome event. My 4th time and I will be back next year for sure.

In short: Nice route but not built for mass run In full: The first 4 miles are a mix of narrow cycle lanes and single file track. It took until mile 5 before you could open a large stride. How can you use a track that you cant overtake on. The front runners would have been fine but us average runners just got clogged up with several people getting tripped and kicked. The marshalls were brilliant, well done. Water stations were infrequent and each cup only had a tiny amount of water in them so you needed 2 or 3 to get a good drink. It was cheap to enter and that showed im afraid. I wont be back for the run but I will probably come back to walk the route as its beautiful. Date of review: November 7, 2010

In short: Simply The Best In full: This is without doubt the best organised race I have done (and I've done quite a few). Communication about the weather and conditions before was top notch. On the day from being picked up by coach at the services to being dropped off again everything was made so easy. Marshals were fantastic (especially the very lively 3 girls around 12 miles), crowds on route very encouraging, the goody bag was great and I just cant wait for next year. Helsby....Take a bow, you deserve it. Date of review: January 19, 2010

In short: My 7th HM and most definately THE BEST. Well Done Organisers In full: What a brilliant run. Very well organised, cheap parking (£1-50 all day) and plenty of it, Great Medal and T-shirt. The course was very picturesque. There were more hills than I thought but somehow it was still a very fast course. I broke my PB by 5 minutes and almost cracked the 2hour barrier (defo next year). Loved starting at the castle and finishing with lap of the running track, makes you feel special. Please do not change this course as it works really well. I read Mikes own review and I think he is a little harsh on himself. This was an amazing day. My kids came along and took part in the fun run plus entertainment which stopped them getting bored while waiting for me. Keep the fun run time during the main event. Only minus for me was no drinks at the start. On route water stations perfectly placed. I could go on forever with good points. I guarantee I will be back next year. Date of review: October 20, 2008
