In short: A good idea spoilt by poor understanding of how a feature race should be organised. In full: arrive early, was an understatement no trains from Coventry arrive before 9am! next follow diversions to event; would have been helpful if the diversions indicated whether they were for the event or roadworks. The there was the total absence of control in the start area, I ran fro three miles and was still passing runners who should have been in the 2 hour zone, the start route was also too narrow with too many obstacles and poor marshalling to protect you against obstacles in low sunlight. You need to staff the water stations with more volunteers with good briefings; sadly they were unable to cope. those small stubby bottles were to tough to crush if you happen to run over one and an accident waiting. Come on couldnt you find a more attractive course than this one, consider Sutton park loads of space for a great event. I certanly won't be rushing back for this one in the city. In short: Lived up to its name!! In full: Great fun, nice a muddy with opportunities to to fall all over, does exactly as promised, very wet you have to be prepared and generally most people who would enter this have a good idea and would not be suprised or dissapointed. Please with the hot showers and great locker room banter. Date of review: April 3, 2010
In short: Too many runners for this course, ramshakle start In full: I was talked into this race but I won't be doing it again.
Running village was a good idea it would have been better if you had organised some decent signage informing the crown where to go, I saw green runners moving in all directions. For me the start was a shambles I spent four miles dodging slower runners having entered what I thought was a good frace for a time. Fantastic support good on the course facilities and not bad finish. Just a pity the organisers have pitched for too many runners preumably a budget thing, please next year use timing pens and qualify entrants times. Date of review: March 8, 2010
In short: Better than anticipated, next time I'll ride the horse, a barbcue would have been welcome In full: Not sure what we were expecting but it was well worth the effort of supporting this maiden race. The organisation came up with a very challenging course which must have included 20 hourse jumps! The weather was glorious and a water course would have been appreciated. Will deffinatley do it again. Date of review: July 25, 2009
In short: Great race through all the parks and around the golf course In full: I really enjoyed this race, relatively traffic free up and around the golf course doen and along the parks in and out of the canal paths finishing in a buitifully well kept public park. great Date of review: April 7, 2009
In short: Whent like clockwork well done to FVS and especially the marshalls In full: Only niggle was the late start due to realativley poor arganisation for getting the chips to runners. On balance its probably more effective to post them out. Date of review: November 3, 2008
In short: Exceptionally well organised, great day In full: Excellent with only one gripe, the bagge tent was too small and understaffed causing great delays at the start. The rest was a smooth as the best I have seen in 20 years and a big pat on th back for all the volunteer marshalls. Date of review: October 21, 2008
