In short: No frills race- challenging enough to make you feel that you deserve your medal In full: Very well organised local half marathon. Considering the event takes place on roads that aren't closed the marshals did an excellent job of keeping the runners safe. I wasn't aware this year of any impatient motorists although there may well have been some! I have done this event a few times in the past and really welcome the changes- start and finish on the track, a secure baggage area, chip timing and INSTANT RESULTS! Being able to check the results on the laptops in the club house was a bonus. A decent range of refreshments available in the clubhouse afterwards and a decent goody bag of sports drink and chocolate bar plus decent medal. Excellent. I achieved a personal best this year so am chuffed. The undulations are challenging- especially the second time round- but that just adds to the fun of it. Hope to be back next year. Thanks to the cheery marshalls who make us feel that we can fly when really we must be looking awful! Date of review: March 3, 2013

In short: Excellent event In full: Congratulations to the director for a top-notch race. It was 'hillier' than expected. OK- they were more like inclines than hills but after umpteen times the inclines did begin to feel mountainous. Which of course added to the fun. Enough twists and turns and changes in gradient to keep the laps interesting. Also really good being able to see other runners across the way and give them a friendly wave. Drinks and nosh after each lap- jelly babies, chocolate, biscuits...what more could a girl want? Superb organisation and it went like clockwork. It was also good being able to sit in the Cyclopark cafe and get a hot drink afterwards. Definitely one to do again. Date of review: June 5, 2012

In short: A pleasant scenic marathon In full: Well organised with a welcome gift of a hat at the beginning which many runners chose to wear in the race. A fairly tough course- with the hills getting steeper at every lap. Friendly marshals and I thought the roads were pretty free from cars. I'm surprised that someone grumbled about being told off about wearing ipods when the rules specifically warned against them! Despite finding it very painful at the end I achieved a personal best so am chuffed to bits. Hated the walk back to the sports centre as I was too cold to wait for the shuttle bus. But it was lovely to start and finish in a warm building and have hot tea and cakes. A really lovely medal thankyou- nice and heavy! Would I do it again- well, you never know....probably! In short: Foul weather, challenging course- pleased to have done it In full: Well organised with a very prompt start. Just as well as the weather was foul. Couldn't be helped - just adds to the challenge A big thanks to the marshalls who also had to endure the foul weather. The headwind on the 2nd lap just added to the challenge. Ended thoroughly cold, sodden and barely able to feel my hands! But nice grub and warmth in the club hut and good camaradarie. Amazing turn around of results. Big thanks to the organiser Will be back next year. Date of review: February 28, 2010

In short: Tough as usual but worth the challenge In full: Organisation was good and low key. Marshals were superb and had a difficult job with the traffic. Some aggressive drivers but also sadly some runners who would not heed the marshal's warning to not cross the road. Its not an easy course by any means so the good medal at the end is well worth running for. Enjoyed having a cuppa in the club house afterwards and very impressed with the speed at which the results appeared. Thank you to David Hollingworth and all marshals! Date of review: March 1, 2009

In short: A well organised race with a good turn out of enthusiastic Imperial college students In full: Despite the dismal weather, the students did a grand job of organising the race. Distances were marked clearly and marshals were really friendly and supportive - although they must have been freezing! Some good fancy dress costumes! Keep up the good work guys. In short: In short, very friendly and informal. Very well organised. A testing course! In full: This is my third time doing this Half - and the first time to have lovely spring weather - perfect. Yes, its hilly. Yes, its urban - but thats only to be expected. (David H can hardly ship Richmond Park to Woodford for the day can he... :) As usual I found the hills testing but there were enough downhills and flats to even things out. I even got a PB! Many thanks to the superb marshalling - as always very slick and organised. It was also very good to be acknowledged and clapped by the groups of supporters and spectators.
A lovely medal as always plus bottle of water and mars bar. What more can we ask for
All in all a great way to spend Sunday morning. I'll be back next year - particularly as its my local Half. Date of review: March 2, 2008
