In short: Lived up to all the hype, and some. In full: A beautiful, well thought out course. Some very tough hills (there seemed to be more downs than ups to me). Terrific marshalling.
Loved the medal, loved the cakes, loved the band (who got far less appreciation than they deserved).
Cannot recomend it enough. Huge thanks to the organisers. Date of review: June 20, 2010

In short: Great scenery In full: Really enjoyed it. Stiff climb up on to Middleton Moor, undulating for a while, fast run back. Nice weather, great scenery, well organised.

In short: Hillier than expected, abysmal water / fueling provision In full: I entered this expecting it to be flat and got a little bit of a surprise. The undulations made for a tougher than expected course.
Also, wasn't very impressed by water in plastic cups. It'll be OK for slower runners, but for anyone wanting to run fast, you have no alternative to break pace every couple of miles to prevent the entire contents spilling down the vest/ going up the nose. The organisers said the decision was based on preventing waste, but I fail to see how dropping half a 200ml cup down your vest is less wasteful than running for a mile or so with a bottle, sipping the whole lot.
Virtually no isotonics provision, so be warned and sort yourself out - the organisers were contacted several times by members of the forum in the build up, whose response was little short of b*gger off!
Other than that, a beautiful run through the countryside, and lots to do in town for your "support crew". Good atmosphere and very friendly and helpful marshalls / officials.
Would love to come back again, but not until the race organisers have a rethink on the water provision. Its 2010 guys, not 1980! Date of review: April 26, 2010

In short: Nice weather In full: Great to see bottled water this year - a big improvement.
Only thing I was unhappy about was the "trigger happy" chap manning the A12 roundabout. He stopped us to let one car go through. Stopping runners in a race for such a trivial matter was pathetic. Sort it out for next year.
Other than that, a nice race and hope to be back. Date of review: March 25, 2010

In short: A monster! Bring a sense of humour, leave PB aspirations at home. Thanks to marshals for slowing us down on the worst of the ice. Date of review: January 31, 2010

In short: Fast and rather wet In full: An unusual start, not sure what happened, but I am guessing the very wet weather contributed to the organisers having to take some tough decisions to get everyone away.
That said I did enjoy the water features over the first few miles. I loved the collective groan as the realisation dawned that those deep puddles were going to take up the entire width of the road.
Chip collection was very quick and no queue for the toilet when I breezed through. Car park waterlogged, but without giving the game away, other oppotunities existed.
The race was advertised; flat, fast, rural 10 mile. Thoroughly enjoyed the event, will be back. Date of review: November 29, 2009

In short: Good race In full: A quick course, though I was a bit out of puff at the top of the short "hill" (both times round!), well worth a crack at a PB.
Seemed very well organised, nice start and finish, and I just loved the still warm cookie from one of the local shops to go with my water at the finish. Date of review: August 9, 2009

In short: Wind, wet feet, good views, friendly In full: As others have said, rather windy today (one of the locals did disagree, "thars nee wind mun"!) which made it tougher than I was expecting. Running along the beach did involve wet feet, slippery rocks and soft sand, and there were a few stiff but brief uphills. All of which, of course, is advertised and part of the charm of the race.
The weather was glorious and it complimented the beautiful scenery which lived up to the hype.
All the marshalls & officials were very friendly and welcoming and the runners were a nice bunch too.
Well worth the trip, my only gripe was no clock at the finish line (guess which numbnuts forgot his garmin?) Date of review: July 12, 2009

In short: 2 steep hills, In full: 5 miles to warm up for the 2 very steep hills and the very fast finish.
A PW but that was expected.
Absolutely top marks to the organisers, a really nice event. Date of review: June 11, 2009
