In short: Haunted by ...
In full: the ghosts of Slogs past when I was overtaken by a man dressed as a banana. As usual the race was wonderful and, unusually, so was the weather. Galloping cows, cow pats and criminal amounts of mud all added to the experience.

The only gripe is having to queue for the finish line. I felt the longer it became the more irrelevant 'finishing' times were. Also having to queue for goody bag/drink didn't seem as well organised as previous years.

I recommend it: the most fun you can have in public on a Sunday morning whilst wearing lycra tights and a vest. Thanks to the marshall who high-fived me at mile four or was it five?(he wore a dress, pink tights and a red wig) All normal for the Slog.

In short: A perfect day for a perfect (but tough) run
In full: This is my fourth consecutive Slaughterford 9 and it was as good (and tough) as ever. The hills don't get any easier, but then I don't get any younger! Brilliant organisation. Thanks to the "orange givers" at the farm and the wonderful cakey display afterwards: of which I availed myself! Will be back again next year.

In short: Bog snorkelling, sheep dip, pig trough ... need I say more?
In full: Another splendid time, plunging into cold water and watching mud creep up my legs. Great organisation and poignant two-minute silence at the beginning observed by all. Only things I avoided were the jelly beans, not knowing how many slurry-coated fingers they'd been through before mine.(Peanuts on the bar syndrome!)Looked like I'd been rolling around with farm animals at the end, but so what? Flippin' well loved it!

In short: Another toughie, frozen ground, but lovely scenery and friendly people!
In full: A challenging race but with friendly banter and encouragement from all involved. Well done Chippenham Harriers. Will be back again next year.

In short: Thought I might go bog-snorkelling at one point!
In full: A "mudified" route to last year's but still great fun. Gloopy mud was hilarious. Fantastic goody bag at the end - great value. Lovely race for those who don't take their running too seriously (like me!)

In short: The hills were alive with the sound of creaking limbs
In full: Another tough one; loads and loads of mud, but I loved it! There seemed to be more hills this year; maybe that was just me - seeing double by the end of it. :¬) Will be doing it again next year. Brilliant encouragement from marshals and a smashing brew and cake back at the ranch afterwards!

In short: I now have webbed feet!
In full: Yet again, Gordon Robbins comes up trumps with his team from Bitton Road Runners. Great organisation (barring the queue for the stile near 'Slurry Farm') The plunge pool made an exhilarating and hilarious change to the hill and The Lake, as did the the waist-deep water on the Common. Cold, wet, covered in mud. Loved it! Will be back again next year.

In short: No, I didn't run the hill
In full: Loved the mud and icy cold stream ... but my trainers didn't. Fabulous day, lovely scenery.

In short: Stonkin'
In full: My first race ever! Brilliant organisation, loved the mud, cow dung and watery mire. The fact I was overtaken by a man dressed as a banana didn't matter. What a right laugh it was. When can I register for next year?
