In short: Very nice race
In full: I'm very pleased I chose this race although my legs were aching very much from overtraining in the week. Very pretty course and well organised with three drinks stations. The last mile was tough, slightly uphill and very straight. Will be back with fresher legs next year!

In short: Well done Barns Green!
In full: After a 3 year absence, I was very happy to do this race again. Great running through the school with the support and the band, and with the support all around the course. I was very pleased to find the Kitkat in the goody bag!!

In short: Good quick new race
In full: Visiting friends in Somerset, this was a very nice addition to the day. A perfectly flat course, and perfect running conditions. The off road sectios were quite rutted, and could get very muddy if it had been raining. My only negative was that I tried to call the organisers phone the night before to check there would be on the day entry before our long drive from Swansea, but there was nobody answering the call and no reply to the message I left.

In short: 3rd Year at Tadworth
In full: This is always one of my years regular fixtures, but really struggled this year after having done a parkrun the morning before and half-marathon 7 days earlier.

The race was very well organised. My only gripe was at the start. The band were playing. I was going to get into position during the race announcement. Before I knew it, the race just started without notice. I was stuck at the back faced with a wall of the slowest runners. Then to make things worse was held up by the horseriders. I couldn't recover from running the first mile a minute slower than planned, and my normal rivals were streets ahead.

I love this race though. look forward to 2012.

In short: A good calorie burner!
In full: Firstly, thank god I changed to trail shoes. I saw many slipping and sliding, the trail shoes gripped nicely on the snow, slush and mud.

A tough race in freezing conditions and biting wind. Very good for burning off those Xmas calories. I was prepared for 14 miles rather than 12.7 miles. This meant that general race pacing and my usual final mile of upping the pace was spoilt which resulted in a slower time.
I was ok with my Garmin, but mile markers were desperatley needed for those without. It would have been a desolate run not knowing how much of the course I'd run. Otherwise, very well organised and hopefully will be back next year.

In short: Couldn't resist it!
In full: Having been resigned to watching from the sidelines with my sore ankle, with 20 mins to go the urge took over and I dashed back to the B&B to get my race number and chip. Despite my injury and having cycled 57 miles in mountains the day before, I pulled out my 3rd fastest ever 10k out of 28. Great organisation, one suggestion for the drinks station is to serve from both sides of the path to cut down on congestion.

In short: 3rd time at Ashtead
In full: A new course. Not as challenging as the old one, but nice to have the problem places taken out, and beautiful views over the fields. This was an excellent morning out, my only gripes are that the km markers were so far out. I couldn't understand why they were like this if the course measurers had Garmins on. Secondly in the last 2km over the wide open common land I was on my own and felt a bit disorientated with being tired. A couple more marshals up there just reassuring me that somehow I hadn't gone wrong would have been nice.

In short: Wouldn't miss this one for the world!
In full: 3rd consecutive year at Lingfield. Times have improved from 1:39 to 1:27 to 1:21. A very special challenging race with great organisation. Will always be my first pick no matter what other races are on!

In short: Beautiful Setting
In full: My second year back. Having just returned from a long injury I wasn't sure if I could challenge my 50:04 from last year, but was shocked and amazed to go 47:44! One long gradual climb up to 5k, then a shorter steeper climb later, but a great last 2k downhill!

In short: A great addition to my holiday in Norfolk
In full: Spending a week on holiday in Norfolk I couldn't resist doing this one even though injured and haven't run 10k for 7 weeks. Started near enough to the front to avoid the bottleneck, great course, friendly marshals and so pleased to duck under 50 mins! I'd love to be back next year, but is a long drive from Guildford!!
