In short: What a fantastic day - definately be back next year
In full: This was my first Great North Run and i would recommend it to everyone. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and you'll never be short of encouragement, both from spectators and other runners. The boost you get at the finish from the crowd is second to none. This was intended as part of my build up to the London marathon, which now has a hard act to follow!! I will, without a shadow of a doubt, be back next year, hopefully dragging a few more people along with me!

In short: Fairly good race - not worth the 1 hour journey tho
In full: I felt this was a fairly good race, although i do agree that the organisation left a lot to be desired. I was lucky enough to get to the water station before they run out of water(i finished in 42 minutes) but did notice that they had already run out on the way back past a few minutes later. They were still giving out t-shirts and medals when i left but i definately feel that it could have been more organised at the finish, seemed like more of a free-for-all.
The weather was fantastic and it is a good, quick course (even if there's not too much to look at) and as this was my first race, felt that the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming to the beginner.
