In short: GREAT FIRST RACE OF THE YEAR
In full: This was another really well organised race by Stratford AC, ok a good turn out of club runners but all were made welcome, a massive PB for me helped too but that wouldn't have spoilt what was a great first race of the year for many runners, great marshalls, a toilet trailer for the men at the start was a handy touch plus a T shirt this year too, what more could you ask for , roll on 2012.

In short: Another Great Ashby 20 .roll on 2011
In full: This was a really great race in fact the highlight of the year for me for sure my favourite race. Great marshalling loads of water stops with lots of other bits and pieces on offer a lot more than last year I would say. A tough course the last 1.5 miles are hard but then you are 18 miles into the race. The sweatshirt is great, AND is a quiality garment which will last a long time. Grat organisation with lots of smiles form all involved.
Note to organisers a fair few of us saw a marshal (I think) take a pretyy nasty fall from a pushbike shortly after the start, just really enquiring that the person concerned was ok.

In short: No Sleep Till Bramlery
In full: At least only 4 hours for me late night working plus early start as had a 100 mile journey to make. It was worth it mind a good 2 lap scenic cours those "hills" didn't really come into it even on the second time round! I didn't notice the late start, the toilets were not brilliant, also some sort of shower facility would have been nice for those with a long journey to make afterwards.
Great Bum bag but no good for a bigger runner I am no monster but the strap is too short so I have a useless article any ideas Reading?
Altold mind a good race and very friendly marshalls, the sports massage was brilliant, heck those girls are strong!

In short: A Good start to the year with perfect weather
In full: Well after the indifferent weather of the last few weeks Stratford won the pools and had what I consider to be perfect weather for their race. By the looks of things there was a big turnout with very few no shows, probably because most of us were glad to actually get out and run.A good course ,that slow upward climb from where you get onto the main road is quick long and gets you ready for that one slightly testing hill after the first water stop. You can more than make up for lost time after this though as it's mainly downhill with a fairly flat fast finish.A word of thanks to the marshalls too plenty of enthusiasm from them all in all a good day, I was 3 minutes quicker than last year too!

In short: Great course, perfect weather friendly marshalls
In full: Well 3 of us made the journey from Warwickshire to do this, it was well worth it. With no wind it to me never felt cold at any point,at least 10 of us were in vests and shorts at one point around halfway I felt warm sunshine on my shoulders! Ok the start isn't brill through the estate but it is a fast section, it hurt a bit coming back through at the end. The impatient car driver-well what can you say? All in all a great end to the year with a nice and different momento well done Royston.

In short: GREAT RACE GREAT PEOPLE TOP SHIRT
In full: This was a great race, Bedford Harriers can always be relied upon to organise a good event, the shuttle buses worked well there were no major drama's with collecting chips and dropping off bags etc plus a decent ammount of loo's.Course wise it turned out to be a fast one I reckon, the hills not half so bad as expected which resulted in me achieving an unexpected pb of 1.48.44! The Rugby shirt, well a great idea,as previosly said better than a bag of tat and another medal, mine will be used for outside winter work to relace te 15 year old Guiness one which is to say te least somewhat tatty now,it had better last Bedford.......All in all a great day.
One small point, the megaphone used by the stareter was useless no one could hear a word he was saying, next time maybe a similar pubic address system that was used to announce the results or a larger megaphone, apart from that 10 0ut of 10.

In short: wet windy but fun
In full: Well I sat in the car park at Barnwell School watching the rain tipping down and thougt "shall I not bother?" Having driven the 90 odd miles from Warwick and seeing the other runners making their way to the start i had no choice but to do it.
To be honest yes it was really heavy rain at the start but even with all the wind not cold.
It was pointless trying to wear my glasses so I carried them in my pocket.
Course wise I reckon it was ok,some people thought it was hilly because of the underpasses and so on but I found it in a way pretty flat,I certainly didn't have that puffed out feeling one sometimes gets at the top of a steep hill.I found the 2 lap method ok and yes the marshalls were brill,I'd rather be running than standing anyday.I was happy with my time of 1.52.28,a guy I spoke to on the way back to the car park said it wasn't a particularly fast course on account of the underpasses etc. Also the strong headwind on one part of the course slowed a lot of people up I guess. All in all a good event which certainly sorted out the Women/Men from the Girls /Boys as someone mentioned earlier,at the end of the day it's only a bit of water!

In short: great event great people
In full: well I looked forward to this one and it didn't let me down, good course very scenic especially at the top of the second hill.
It was a proper hill and I don't mind admitting I stopped a couple of times,on a plus note after that hill which was around mile 8 it was basically mostly downhill but the climbs took it out of me a bit.this is a nice smallish race run by people who are interested in running,it was from the sublime to the ridiculous after te 12000 runners at Birmingham last week.Definetely will be back next year ready for that hill!

In short: e
In full: This was a fantsatic event, having only done 15 mile runs previosly I left it till the Friday to enter, no problem with tat a phone call and it was sorted, thanks to Zoe from Ivanhoe Runners for her help. The organisation was first rate, everyone involved was really friendly and helpful, loads of water stations with chocolate and gels at some, the course was fairly testing but in a nice sort of way, it did get a bit windy towards the end. The hoody and goody bag were top notch,10 out of 10 to all concerned in organising this event. a big thanks to the members of my club Kenilworth Runners for all the encouragement, this and the enthusiasam of the marshalls and helpers ensured I finished! Roll on next year.
