In short: My favourite race of the year. Early start is great and marshalls very friendly. In full: This was the third time that I have run this race and its definately my favourite of all the races. Good scenery, some challenging hills that are hard but not too long and downhill for the last stretch. The early start means you can be back home at a decent time and get on with the rest of the day. Always been a friendly race and I liked the fact that the race director was at the exit this year, having a quick chat to people as they left. Will be back next year.

In short: Fantastic to get pout for a race just after Christmas. Well organised. Loved the chip timing and fast results. In full: My first time doing this friendly race. Good for beginners and seasoned racers. Well organised and appreciated the emails from the race organiser, as I was a last minute entrant. The chip timing and refreshments were definate winners. The long drag out and back along the A20 were a bit dull, but the country lanes and half way downhill section added interest. Will definately be back next year and really enjoyed having a race to look forward to just after Christmas. Date of review: December 27, 2009

In short: Good atmosphere, but poor traffic management! In full: I was really looking forward to this race as I had heard so many good things about it. Definately true to say that the atmosphere was great, particularly at the finish - liked the jelly babies at the water station and finish. Bad traffic conditions before the race made me very late - the lane leading to the car park really could do with being one way on the day, or have a marshall directing the traffic. I got virtually to the car park entrance when I met a car coming the other way who point blank refused to reverse, (nice guy!),which meant that me and the 8 cars behind all had to reverse to the end of the road instead. Only just made the start as a result and being at the back meant behing held up big time, or trying to weave round people and/or stinging nettles. Thought I'd finally cracked my 38 minute PB, only to find out that the clock was wrong. ARGH!!! Think I was just unlucky to have a bad race day, as generally this race gets a very good write-up.

In short: Tough course. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed it. In full: Thought the organisation was really good - but we got to the site at least an hour before the race started and had no problems with queueing/car parks, etc. Water stations well manned. Excellent goody bag. I must be one of the few people who actually like the orange t-shirt - it'll come in very handy for evevning running when the summer is over. Think the 45 and 50 minute pacers could do with a bit more practice - they both went off far too fast. Will definately be back next year. Date of review: June 15, 2009

In short: Loved the scenery and the cross-country element. Fun, but muddy and cwet. In full: Really enjoyed running through the park and the marshalls were very encouraging, even though they were obviously cold and wet. The mud and puddles made the run more challenging, and you had to be really careful not to slip over towards the end of the downhill section. The wind at the top of the hill was definately not much fun. The queues to get through the gate single file need to be better managed, as it delayed the start and made you really cold waiting. All in all a fun race though and would love to do it again (although hopefully with better weather). Date of review: March 17, 2008
