In short: Deserves the positive comments it gets, not an easy run but do we do run because it's easy?
In full: First of all thank you to the organisers, marshalls (especially the ones - Children with Mum- by the Blue Van who saved me with a water bottle late in the race), and supporters.
Having run a good few marathons, I considered myself experienced but still messed this one up a bit. I should have guessed from past times that this was not a breeze. I live too far away to recce the route and do not know the area, I do now! Not Hilly in terms of Yorkshire, Derbyshre but still a good challenge. This was overall fun (if I take out the pain at the end - my misjudgement)and I think worthy of its 'special event' acclaim. It's a great race and as many have described already, scenic, well organised, friendly and ceratinly worth doing but plan for a bit of a challenge especially if hot. For the orgainsers the only criticism was the water cups rather than bottles I would pay a little more to ensure I got enough fluid early on in a marathon. If for any reason bottles cannot be done ( I know the clear up is a pain!) and you are reading this considering to enter 2012, USE THE SPECIAL DRINKS STATIONS provided, I didn't BIG MISTAKE! Those that did - good planning!
