In short: Edinburgh Marathon? East Lothian marathon more like.
In full: First time marathon and came home both disappointed and freaked out by the experience. Watching runners having seizures at the side of the road and seeing others foraging for drinks was like something from the third world. I will do another marathon, just not this one. My family came through to support me and had a horrendous time getting to and from Musselburgh. Whole thing is a bit of a joke. Saw more of Edinburgh in the taxi on the way to the start and apart from the fab people of East Lothian who turned out to support, this would have been like a long, lonely training run. The finish area was a disaster, standing for 20 minutes to get through to de-chip and goody bag is a joke. Sorry I can't say anything positive.

In short: Slippery when wet...
In full: I came down from Dundee for this race. The biblical weather was no fault of the organisers and me and my pals squeezed into the Lucozade tent trying to find shelter. I started the race cold and wet and rapidly lost the will to live. Ran well round the course although no PB. No plans to do it again.

In short: A must-do race for all women!
In full: First time for me and I loved it. Managed to run the whole way and even got a PB! Course not too challenging and the hills are really not that bad. The heat was getting to me near the end and I was glad to finish. Brilliant day though and would love to do it again.

In short: Beware of the hills!
In full: First 5k was alright..then the long sloooow climb up Queen's Drive. My legs were done in by this point and just wanted to finish, regardless of the time. Beautiful day for it, if a little too warm at times (or maybe that's just me!) But hey, we can't organise the weather. Nice medal at end and a great atmosphere.

In short: A killer hill! Lovely race with fantastic views.
In full: Was a bit concerned at the lack of security in the bag tent. Good atmosphere and a glorious day (in spite of the freezing temperatures) made it worthwhile. A few icy patches to dodge on the course but by that time I was gubbed and walking anyway!

In short: Loved it!
In full: This was only my second 10k after taking up running last summer. Great that your gear gets taken to the finish for you. I wasn't far from last but was still a very enjoyable run and hope to do it again this year. Inverness is a beautiful city and the night before the race was buzzing with runners dining out. The start is a bit awkward as it's in a residential street but after the first kilometre it widens out a bit (lets just say I didn't overtake many people!). I was really impressed with a text telling me my time and finishing position while I was on the train back home to Dundee. It is well worth the effort getting there. Negative point? Mushroom soup at the end :( I hate mushrooms!!!
