In short: Excellent, Friendly and perfectly organised.
In full: If you want to run a marathon you can't go far wrong with this one. The atmosphere and Organisation is world class. The crowd support is growing every year as the people of Chester and surrounding areas take the race to their hearts.
I find it a tough course that is going to hurt but hey it's a marathon it should hurt.
There is nothing negative to say about the Chester marathon it offers great value and a wonderful experience. even the goody bag is one of the most generous you'll find along with a good quality tech T shirt and a nice medal.
You can't go wrong

In short: Awesome race - Loved it and will be back
In full: Excellent race with a party atmosphere. Highlights were the red carpet finish with the enthusiastic crowds lining the sides, the glorious bays and scenery and the support from the half marathon runners and crowd while passing through Pembroke. The only small whinge was no toilet facilities anywhere on the course and only 1 at the start at the bag drop area. This is overall one of my favorite races though and I'll definitely be back again. Thanks and well done to the organisers and the exceptionally cheerful and efficient marshals and crew who gave their time to make a wonderful event

In short: Loved it, definately worth doing
In full: This was one of my favourite races, most of the field seemed to be from running clubs or at least on the fitter side than you see at most half marathons.
The terrain was narrow forest path as you'd expect so to get a pb you'd need to place yourself wisely at the start. There was one or two challenging climbs but plenty of long downhill stretches too so possible to get around quite fast if you are sufficiently trained for the event. The organisation and atmosphere were great and the marshals were friendly and efficient. the medals were good quality and the tech t shirts seem good too (only free for the top 50 male and female) otherwise a very reasonable £8.
Overall a really good day out that I will certainly do again.
Well done to the organisers and all volunteers and marshals

In short: Good race mostly off road on varying terrain. Hard but loved it
In full: Although flat the varying terrain makes this a difficult race to get a good time. The course includes mud, shingle, seaweed and single file tracks which make keeping to a pace difficult.
On the positive the weather was outstanding (could be very grim in pouring rain), the water stations were numerous and friendly. good medal and T shirt, the free soup etc was a nice touch at the finish on such a cold day. The race was a reasonably low price and I'd be happy to do it again (although definately with trail shoes next time) The only 2 negatives were the completely inadequate toilet facilities (the only race I've attended without portaloos)and also quite easy to get lost on the return leg because the signs were either missing or not visible (I got slightly lost and so did quite a few others.
Overall a really good race that I would love to do again

In short: Fantastic race, excellent all round
In full: I actually struggled a lot on this race but nobody's fault but my own, I went out too fast for the first half then the hills got me in the second.
The atmosphere was really uplifting as we reentered the city towards the race track which kept me going for the wonderful grandstand finish. The marshals, water stations etc were plentyfull and very efficient and supportive. Loads of toilets which is always good and the best goody bags, Long sleeve tech running shirts and medals.
A big well done to the organisers. This race is awesome but don't underestimate it as I had done because it will bite you

In short: Good well organised race, I would be happy to do again
In full: A course not to be underestimated as the return leg is climbing all the way (although very gradual)It started on time like clockwork and I found all the marshals to be friendly and efficient and did an excellent job.
The course was not as traffic free as advertised, the rolling roadblock had limited success and the traffic seemed very heavy in the area but I didn't have any trouble and the officials were clearly doing their best at a tough job. The only negitive for me was the lack of a bag storage area, this would have been very welcome as the car park was quite a long way from the start, luckily the weather was very kind or it would have been a challenge

In short: Organised well, beautifull scenery for most of it but not a huge amount of support out on the course (can get a bit lonely out there)
