In short: Absolutely superb! In full: Fantastic race this. Excellent pre-race programme sent out with your race number, loads of signs directing you where to park (plus marshals in the car parks themselves), excellent course, friendly encouraging marshals etc etc. A really top-class event - 10 out of 10 from me. Thank you White Horse Harriers Date of review: April 10, 2013

In short: Superb race! In full: A real gem of a race this. My first time today, and gutted I've never done it before really! Quite a challenging route with a few climbs - nothing too bad, but quite a few longish drags - particularly miles 6 to 8.5 from memory (or was I just knackered by then?!?) But race organisation was impecable - no traffic (from what I can remember), loads of marshals, 3 water stations, a very nice technical T-Shirt, plentiful parking etc etc.
Top marks to all concerned - you did a great job, thank you. Date of review: July 15, 2012

2010 Barnsley Harriers Silkstone Shuffle Trail Race Series

In short: A nice race In full: Hi runfishgirl - I help to organise the race, and thanks for the feedback. One point however - the race is £6 per race for an Unattached runner regardless of whether you enter on the day or in advance. The £20 fee is for the series of all 4 races. So the charges are £4 per race/£12 series for Club runners, £6 per race or £20 for the series for Unattached. Those charges apply whether entering in advance or on the day, so there is no additional charge for one the day entries.
Hope that clears things up for you a bit, and hope to see you at the next event in November. Date of review: September 24, 2010

In short: Superb race - absolutely first-class In full: Fantastic organisation and great support and help from all at York Knavesmire. Course is as flat as it gets really, and has PB written all over it. The only problem is trying to actually get a place as it fills up so quickly. Cracking event - well done to all concerned. In short: Fast and flat - perfect PB material In full: I wasn't aware of the problems at the start, but the start was already late due to the number of day entries and the delays processing them - so maybe they were conscious of keeping everyone waiting in the cold and wet any longer than they needed to. I was at the start line quite a few minutes before they did set us off though, so not sure what happened really?
The race itself was excellent - well marshalled and quick. Yes it was wet and yes there were puddles, but it's the last weekend in November so fair enough really.
Good event and one I'll definitely do again. Date of review: November 29, 2009

In short: A cracking 10k In full: Nice race this one ran on mainly quiet rural roads. Well marshalled, well organised, lovely weather (as always), chip timing - and cheap too. Bit of a tough finish but you can't run a race in Barnsley without hills! Well done to all involved. Date of review: November 15, 2009

In short: Lovely race but some tough climbs! In full: I enjoyed this one. Agree with other posters re the very helpful and encouraging marshalls who all did a great job. Very well organised, nice people and a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
The route itself is very good too - a nice mix of terrain and some lovely views. But don't go here expecting to run a PB cos there are some pretty tough climbs once you leave the canal towpath. But for me this race was so much more enjoyable than a flat 10k on the road - a very good event and one I hope to do again in 2010. Date of review: August 2, 2009

2009 White Peak Marathon and Half Marathon

In short: A gem of a race In full: I did this as my Marathon debut in 2008 and came back again to have another go. A fantastic 'runners' race this one - not much crowd support because of the remoteness of much of the route, but lots of cameraderie between runners and it's nice not to have lots of overcrowding off the start. Plus the course and the location are fabulous.
The downhills at the end are really well-positioned I think - it gave me a real psychological boost to get there, but it doesn't half hurt running down them with tired legs! Having said that I'd rather run down them than up them, and for me knowing those descents were approaching made the last 6 miles or so a bit easier mentally.
All in all a great race, and I'll more than likely be back in 2010 to hopefully run it in decent weather!
Thanks to all at Matlock AC. Date of review: May 19, 2009

2009 Sheffield Half-Marathon

In short: A great Half In full: I really enjoyed this one. Great stadium start/finish, and a relatively flattish route (for Sheffield!) so has PB potential I think, as there are some nice downhills too.
My only gripe was the cups for water - a race of this stature really should have bottles I think. Far easier to drink out of, but that was my only slight complaint.
Overall a cracking day, so thanks to everyone involved. Date of review: April 26, 2009

In short: Fantastic race! In full: I ran this last year and had a fantastic time, so was really pleased to come back again in 09. A bit of a stiff breeze up on the tops made it a challenge, but a fantastic race and as much cake as you could eat at the end!! It's great to support a local charity too. Well done to all involved in the organisation - we had a fabulous day. Thank you. Date of review: April 20, 2009
